Was doing the holy cow ENM earlier. Noticed that Ni nukes were 255 each while in magic only form, while in his melee form, instead of being negated, they were just dropped to 155 a nuke. Unless that's normal and I'm just new to this.

NIN/nuker has potential. I'm only 81. Fully merited on Raiton: San and Raiton Effect on group 1. only 1 INT merit, so I still got room for improvement. I had 72+84 INT basic Cruor INT buff and MAB Atma (+30). I had one Sekka on, the other one is +1 so I gotta wait till I get 85 tomorrow or so, so I had Yagentoshiro on other hand.

Yes, and what damage were you doing normally? I have this sneaking suspicion that the NM there may have some particular weakness to a given sort of damage (Lightning) because that's a massive damage jump that in no way corresponds with the kind of damage we've been seeing out of jutsu up to this point. Even 100 Magic Attack Bonus wouldn't manage to turn a spell that usually hits around 250 damage (I think, pulling a random number out of my head) into one hitting for 6x as much.
I'm not offended by the idea of Ninja nuking (though I honestly couldn't care less and won't be doing it under any circumstance), but something smells here.

Ono! <3 sup buddy, couldn't expect less from you ^^ and yes I'm a skeptical kinda individual myself, that's why I've been doing all kinds of tests here and there, but it's real, NIN/nuker has potential.
My normal Futae + Raiton: San do on average between 1023 and 1077, although I've had hits as low as 933. I have also hit for 970ish without Futae. My average unresisted San spells in Abyssea do around 500 a pop, but the I've seen San hits in the range of 450 to 670, per spell, no lie.
YES I get resisted from time to time, I'd guesstimate around 30% of the time, but it doesn't feel like I get resisted much lately (also Ninjutsu sucks against birds and frogs lol). I was on a different Abyssea pt earlier today doing Cluckatrices and again my average Futae + Raiton San did 950+ figures and in 3 instances 1000+ where 1087 was my max, I also did hit 979 without Futae with Raiton. I had 2 San spells hit for 579 back to back, and yes I get a lot of hate for that lol, but nothing I can't handle. The down side to this is that once the mob is facing me, Inin no longer works, but I still manage to hit for 430-450ish per spell. Raiton happens to hit for more cuz I have concentrated more merits on it.
I'm still working on this, but I can post more pics as I get closer to my objective.

Oh, ok, Futae. I totally forgot we have that ability now. Now I'm a lot less skeptical. What I'd really be interested in knowing, then, is what kind of sustained DPS you can do this way (and at what kind of unholy expense).

yay! can't wait to get back into the game.
Did some quick math and with nin/rdm and the proper gear, can have up to 37% fast cast. I can see this becoming the new /drk. Problem is most people are just unwilling to try it out (me included for now since my rdm is 27) also because for solo /dnc is already leveled, and /war in abby holds hate pretty damn well. Outside of abby might be a different story though, either way I plan to get around to rocking /rdm some day.
edit: also have a 10% off recast neck now too.
25% haste + 18.5% fast cast (recast) +10% neck is retarded low recast on utsusemi.
53.5% to be exact ;p

That is good to know, but we can at least come a lot closer to cap without needing outside support.

You could go NIN/WHM for haste too. You'd still cap recast with your set up, but you'd have haste for melee swings.

And you would have very little fast cast. /rdm cast haste then no need to be in any sort of haste gear for lowest possible recasts maybe?

You don't get haste /rdm yet. And 15% or whatever FC you get from /RDM, while nice, shouldn't be a deal breaker.

The difference between /Red Mage and /White Mage (currently) is in what you're trying to do. If you're relying on elemental jutsu, the Magic Attack Bonus and Fast Cast are obviously superior. If you're opting for a flexible melee solo, /White Mage is the better choice. Of course, it depends on where and what. In Abyssea, giving up an Atma for a Refresh might be a nuisance depending, whereas /Red Mage can Refresh itself and, if you're only occasionally casting a Cure or Bar-spell, it should be sufficient. I did some soloing as Ninja/White Mage back at 80 and found that my MP could stretch decently (caveat: 8/8 MP merits) but I'm honestly not convinced my kill speed and resilience were any better than /Dancer.

late, but isn't that neck only casting time and not recast?

It might be I am not sure.
edit: Path just curious as to how much HP you got from cure 3 as /rdm?

I honestly don't remember, but assuming you're talking about an Elvaan character, it should probably break the 180 soft-cap by virtue of MND and VIT, but I'd be shocked to see it hit 200 without Cure Potency gear. If at all possible, you're likely better off throwing up Stoneskin. It's a long cast, but you really oughtn't be taking serious damage to require healing yourself often, it's MP-efficient, and it's easier to boost up than non-White Mage Cures (meaning 1-4).

Don't forget to equip MND gear for Stoneskin. Even though it's more MP efficient than cures even without MND gear, doing so can more or less double its potency and NIN should be able to fairly easily cap because of the low skill cap from /RDM and Abyssea buffs (osode, suzy sune-ate and cheap AH mnd equips)
