forgive my ignorance. wouldnt 10ACC 20ATT on togi beat 10acc/10att? I never found str/dex to help that much on mnk WS?

The 5 DEX on Mirke gives more accuracy than Togi... Apparently maths say that the extra hit or two you'll get from the accuracy on Mirke will outweigh the attack on Togi in the long run. I got Mirke because I didn't want to pay for cursed togi and get the Abj. and I'm an accuracy whore.

just because it is a mirke/haub without dex, doesn't mean it's not as good as togi
even if they're usually about even DD wise, the large bonus to defense should make it at least on par with it when it falls slightly behind

i actually like osode because i abhor using equip swaps that flash me out,and osode effects a lot of our abilities. if only 10 chr added as much to waltzes and vit does to chakra =o

I suggested that EVA (including whatever eva the agi gives), 50 hp and Subtle Blow are useful, so I guess in a way yes.

My understanding was after usu it went
1. Mirke 10acc/atk
2. togi and enkidu's
3. anteres/avalon/mirke (10acc/dw still better than osode)
I wouldn't include osode as a top 3 acceptable body piece, much less full timed piece. Monk typically needs accuracy and body is a key spot for it.

Togi vs enk is the difference between 5str and 7.5 attack, which even when it is only 1fstr that's still increasing damage for about the same as the attack will. It will probably be the difference of raising your minimum damage by a couple points or increasing your maximum damage a couple points, evening out in a parse.

I wouldn't go as far as saying eva/agi is useless for monk, though I wouldn't say it's horribly useful either. Considering monk's high base evasion you at least have a reasonable chance to evade salvage and comparable mobs. I mean, you might evade once more every 2-3 mobs so if you had the two it would prolly be better to use enk. Granted, if you already had togi I don't really see the appeal in trying to get enk for mnk alone.

Actually, I've parsed a monk just recently in a Colibri camp (note: this applies to colibris or weaker mobs only, don't misunderstand me) with a full-out DEX build for max Critical hit rate. She was using Osode, Hachiryu hands, Byakkos, Fuma, Walahra, Iota/DEX ring and Cuchulain's to reach 117 total DEX. In the end, she parsed highest in the party by a large amount and had a Critical hit rating of 30%~ according to the parse.
What I'm trying to say it, one should not immediately discredit Osode, though it'd only be useful whenever one can cap Crit rate. Of course, gear swapping is a given. <.<

DEX builds are a special exception to the "Don't use Kirin's Osode for anything but weaponskills" rule (which now even applies to Ranger 'cause you can get Snapshot bodies through either ACP or a new recipe). Even so, a Monk beating everyone else at Greater Colibri has me suspicious. What were the other DDs and, frankly, were they geared correctly? It's not just enough to say "And she won," it really matters if, say, she was beating out a competent Dragoon or something.
