I have been browsing the 'post your picture' thread for a while and I have discovered that most people use HQ Water Staff or Water Staff for casting stoneskin. Isn't using a mythic wand +1 (or another higher MND wand) and a shield a much better combo?
Thanks in advance. I was only curious because it didn't make much sense why people were using Water Staff.

It's so easy to cap Stoneskin on Rdm. Assuming your Enhancing magic is capped all you need is Warlock's tights and 20+ Mnd. I prefer casting Stoneskin with an Earth staff to lower interrupts.

What amount of MND do you need to cap stoneskin? I looked at Wiki and it has this weird formula. I am not good at math, so help would be appreciated

20 Mnd with Whm subjob and 271 Enhancing magic. You need a little more for others subjobs since some give less base Mnd.

Formula is only weird because it's really 3 separate formulas.
There's really only one relevant to RDM at 75, which can be simplified to:
Enhancing Skill + 3*MND - 190
So for a RDM to hit 350 with 0 Enhancing gear/merits (assuming capped skill), you need:
256 + 3*MND - 190 = 350
3*MND = 284
MND = 94.6 (repeating)
Round up to 95 since you can't have a fractional value for MND.
If you add Enhancing skill, you can subtract MND, dropping 1 MND for each 3 points of skill.

The game never rounds up, it either uses the decimal or drops it entirely.

Plug in your numbers and your good to go.
To get a 410 stoneskin you need both a Stone Gorget and Stone Mufflers to cap it and requires capped enhancing skill plus 95 MND which is only +30 MND needed after hume base stats. Warlock's Tights +15 enhancing skill is equal to 5 MND.

If you need so little, why do I see people going crazy with like +60 MND time and time again on the screenshot thread?
Most people simply tap their Slow or Paralyze macros.
Unless you're soloing, the casttime of stoneskin is rarely all that important, so fast cast is kind of a moot point. And, if you've got enough MND, does it really matter how overkill you are?

That is not correct Fayd, I've been a RDM since release and you have missed some easy logic there.
