Hey guys Ive been playing this game for a good 5 years and after everything is said and done Ive had the most fun in the game playing ballista,
hands down, sure you get no rewards for it worth anything but the thing is... ITS ACTUALLY FUN unlike camping the same hnm over and over again.
Sadly on my server Diabolos, ballista slowly started dieing about 3 years ago, then died fully a couple months after that. Being loyal to certain people
on the server I didnt jump to fenrir server a while back when all the rest of my ballista friends did, since at that time, it was considered THE ballista
server due to all the darkhell, urbanmyth etc vids. It has come to a point that this game just isnt fun anymore and the only thing that could keep me
playing and having fun is ballista so I am just posting to ask what servers still actually pvp seriously and consistently, Ive heard fenrir is declining,
some people say siren is good, just want to know which is the best so I could go there. Thanks for your time and your help.

Well,
I just recently moved to Siren from Fenrir, definatly alot of ballista in 60 cap (20+ both teams normally) as for 75 cap (around 4v4 up tto 14v14 if i recall).
Fenrir is fun but its always the same match-up's and got old to me after a while ;_;. I did promise my friends there i plan to come back in 3 months so i do plan to. Siren is fun but the downside is alot of the players are Japanese, and most don't even attempt to work with me (even though I'm the whitemage). They do tend to zerg NA players alot, most of the time your allys on Siren will ignore them and go after someone else. This is mostly in 60 cap, in 75 cap however i tend to enjoy the most, alot of the ppl that do 75 cap don't do 60 cap, they also tend to work together with each other, NA and JP alike. Day ago the JP party i was in even let me make the call on who to attack, didn't go so great but it was a good match. Fenrir was much the same way to me when i 1st arrived there, but after about a month or 2 they started to trust me more and worked with me alot more, I'm hopeing the same happens on Siren in 60 cap, otherwise I'll prolly stick to 75 cap for now.
In the end though you asked which was better, most NA's ballista on Fenrir and are a good group (made alot of friends ^-^), Siren is much bigger ballista sceen at the moment, but i find it alot harder to get xp partys ect on the side vs Fenrir, and alot harder to find teamwork in the 60 cap vs Fenrir. (Even though sometimes JP and NA on Fenrir can be stubborn) So in short if u want more team play or chance of teamwork Fenrir, if u want a bigger match and don't mind being rushed alot because your NA then Siren.

Going to just post the same thing I posted in the other thread......
We dont have Ls vs Ls. We mainly have 1 ballista ls (well not really a ballista shell, just alot of us do ballista) and we sometimes start up dios, but as far as OM matches go we do both 60s and uncap. Our uncaps are bigger then our 60s. 60s are about on average about 10vs10 and our uncaps are usually 13vs13 somtimes 18vs18. As far as skill goes, I hvnt been to siren or lakshimi, but I will say fenrir is mainly hit+run+ws. ALot of drk/nins for 60s, uncaps are usually filled with sams and mnks, couple drks. Their are some skilled players on fenrir but the non skilled far out weigh those with skill. Fenrir is about the revenge kills. If you kill someone, you better bet your ass that same person is gonna come for you at some point in the match (sometimes all match). ~UG

Thanks for the info, Siren sounds like it would be more interesting but would like to have some more input before I make the jump there. The JP players sticking together and zerging isnt much of an issue since its been that way since ballista started, and hey most of them are good because of it so not much to say about it. 20+ on each team is alot of people though so I would assume its more of a run in zerg one person get gate breach and run out tactics rather than an all out brawl, but I could be wrong. Some of my questions would be is it more of a sam/rng run and gun kind of ballista there in siren or is it more a sam/war or war/sam fight it out, or both? Would be interesting to know because I have several jobs I can play as but my style more leans to playing mnk in ballista although I do have sam/anything drk rdm and pld so I would adapt quickly to any sort of play. Being the main target wont be a problem either, after leveling bst as my first 75 job and going to ballista with that you could see how I can know how to play as the main target lol. Another question though however is Ive been reading all the other forums and it seems there is a bit of drama there on siren in the ballista scene, how bad actually is it? If its just the usual few players complaining about this or that meh np but I dont want to have to be dealing with them while the match is going on or have ppl that will intentionally hurt the team. any other info as well as the questions I asked would be great, thanks for the help.

I'd like some input on Siren's Ballista too. I've been to Fenrir and it's a lot of crap. I am considering coming back to FFXI for the Ballista, if Siren isn't too bad.

I'll try to answer your questions, 1st 60 cap has a massive assortment of jobs (few blms rdms mostly but also pld sam drk rng so on), 75 cap is mostly Mnk, Drk, Sam, Rdm, Pld, sometimes Blu and a few other melee jobs in the mix. As for the 60 cap strat, like you said before it normally is focus one then pull out, and they do play smarter (like Pld's staying on enemy team at there rook while your team tosses so on), 75 cap is the same way normally 1 or 2 will rush the rook to keep enemy from tossing as much as possible.
As for Odin (sorry cant see whole name since im on the reply page lol) Siren is alot of fun if u like big matches and id say its worth 1 month of play to try it out, Fenrir is decent but like UG said, its alot of zerging and can expect players to try to repay there deaths with yours in return. (I've done this with holy numerous times) >
. If you wanna try bigger matches for 60 cap I think you might find FFXI worth playing for another month just to play around in ballista, 60 cap always happens from what I've seen, and I've only seen 1 75 cap cancel (was at like 2-3am).
I hope this helps you 2 out on your choices, I'm still getting used to it myself since I'm still new to Siren (didn't play 1st week and a half there cause of school and work) -.-;

Hmm this sounds kind of interesting due to the fact that the uncaps actually have higher numbers than the 60 caps do. On Diabolos uncap was never big... ever... guess people were scared of the kracken clubs(this was way back before reprisal and even alot of the newer jobs came out to make uncap even more dangerous) As far as the revenge kills go, its kind of funny when the same person comes after you the whole match because you kill them one time, they are usually so simple to anticipate and usually end up getting killed again, which probably leads to the quote of "the non skilled far out weigh those with skill". both siren and fenrir sound very interesting for different reasons, i'll wait to see if more ppl reply before I jump. Big three servers for Ballista: Siren, Fenrir, Lakshmi.
Fenrir has spoken for itself. Siren is the biggest one of the three with a healthy JP and NA community from what I hear, and the only reason I haven't moved is because too many people will make me lag worse than I already do. Lakshmi is mostly a JP Ballista server, but there are several NAs that do it as well. Our 60 caps dwarfs our 75s; on a good day it is typical for us to have higher than 10v10s for it. There aren't that many people that do 'revenge kills' so to speak, and teamwork is actually promoted instead of frowned on (gasp, I know).
I'd recommend Lakshmi for a balance between Fenrir and Siren; the only bad comments I've heard about Lakshmi is that the 75 caps aren't as big as the 60 caps. Then again, I'm partially biased so yeah.
edit: That reminds me lol, one match in the summer in Jugner Forest, lv60 cap, you know how teams split off and run to their respective areas before the match? Didn't happen this time. Both teams were right next to each other and when 0:00 came, all hell broke loose. None of that hit and run bullshit, just an all-out brawl to the death. Think the score ended up to be like 704-659 at the end. It was ridiculous.

Wow first ive heard of lakshimi ballista, interesting i'll definately consider it since that jugner 60 cap match you described sounds like tons of fun, hopefully things like that would happen alot lol, ty for the input

Elf and DA quit. After they transferred, I became good friends with them myself. Cryforme as far as I know, left Fenrir once, but came back under a different name (sry idk the name) so he might still be playing.
Anyways Siren 60caps are probably 98% JP. Fenrir is the opposite. I heard all the JP on Fenrir quit except or two or three. Siren has decent uncap sizes with more NA players playing uncap and less JP players. The majority of players here play pretty smart. Melees in the parties assist each other and they protect the rook, and score - a lot. Many people gear defensively and with HP. Recently, I've seen 60s get as high as 50+ around JP prime

If you kill him, he pretty much starts accusing you and your whole ls of hacking. Thx for all the help guys, I decided to go to fenrir due to some posts here and talking to several ppl on my server that had already went there or came back from there, so far it seems to be as everyone said it would be so all is good.

Oh this feimetsu guy might be Riousan on fenrir. He does some of the same stuff that you described (signing and warping, calling GMs when you kill him..etc.) Some people say hes that infamous lolfeiwong guy or w/e, but recently I hvnt seen him lately, so maybe he transfered to another server.

Ah so thats where that kclub rdm went (Senx), sinx was pretty coo, I dont remember Vinxent tho, maybe he had a different name on fenrir?.. Also tell Drekien to come back to fenrir so I can scrape his SAM some more
