I'm going to take a moment to speak about Lakshmi Ballista, for those who are still wondering about how the matches are.

First and foremost, about 90% of the players on Lakshmi Ballista 60 are capped on merits, gear, augments, and pure knowledge of the game. The players, for the most part, are really really good. Back in the day, Ballista used to be about Bravado, emotes, revenge, and proving your worth; Now, you need to check that ego in with the Herald before you sign up, because ANYBODY CAN GET BODIED.

The players in Lakshmi Balli check alot, and they are not afraid to sacrifice themselves for the sake of preventing you from scoring. If I remember correctly on Cerberus, people never used to /check, but would rather try to solo 6 players with Carnal incense/giants drink and somehow felt this was the way to play. It took me a while to get used to their style of play here on Lakshmi, but its growing on me. They don't like to chase people, they focus on teamwork for the most part, but don't ever expect to get cured unless you're a reliable well-known player. Another good idea is to score as soon as possible. If the opponent sees you with GB, chances are, you'll get bodied soon if you dont hide.

Nowadays, people have lot of gil, and they are eating and wearing shit that costs hundreds of thousands of gil/millions. They are stacked on attack, so don't even attempt to waste your time stacking defense food unless you're packing serious shit as a mage.

Lakshmi doesn't waste time in Ballista. I recall back on Cerb, we would wait til 3:00 (first rook move) until we decided to attack for GB. Now? The party buffs real quick, pops Body boost/food/cures, and is looking for their enemy by 0:55.

If you're a DD, get into the habit of assisting someone, and build tp/run til rdy to start skillchain. Another suggestion if you're a DD is to try not to unnecessarily take damage if you dont have to, even if you have Giants/body boost. I was pld/nin with 2200HP, and got partially bodied by a sam/war using penta thrust. And im no scrub, its just these guys are just well equipped.

Mages are always squishy, and chances are, you can get an easy GB if you can drop their buffs. But BLM -ga spam is commonplace in Lakballi, so expect to get bodied by a few taru BLM spamming -ga on the regular.

Hmmm what else... Oh, you'll see your typical score whores, but unless you never die, score 40-60+ (less in meri bo3) and kill about 10+ ppl, you possibly wont get top three. Dead serious. The players are so much better than what I'm used to, that even on my best day of getting 225, someone else scored 226 and I coulda swore I was top scorer, but not top killer/survival.

You're never safe on the map unless you run into a hole. If you are the target for whatever reason, you will die. It doesnt matter if you're a BLM or PLD or RNG, you'll still be called and chased down. Learn to keep petra eater and bounce, or dont keep any petra and just focus on killing etc

If you're looking to come here, I salute you. Find a job that you're comfortable with, and work hard. The guys out here are tougher than what they were 4 years ago.

I also forgot to mention this, and Im trying to break this habit: dont warp out of matches and rejoin late. Not only does it annoy your team (as I was told and witnessed myself), but you will severely disadvantage your team for those few game hours, which may or may not possibly decide the outcome of the match (especiall in b03 merip).

Tem, whats your char name?

Well fuck, Tem. You go back to XI after I quit WoW and give my XI account away.

And here I am looking at screenshots and listening to the Star Onions, getting hit hard by nostalgia.

Idk Tem, I didn't get that vibe from the handful of matches I've played. There's usually a chunk of /sam something type of job there thats easy to build tp off of, but /nin I only tend to see from jobs that you'd expect it from (thf, pld, dnc, blu). All other DDs I've seen weilding their espective 2h weapon and doing high damage with a dd sub. Then again I play NIN/rng and ninjaboothide when im low on HP (cuz mages dont cure), so maybe I'm Biased

Fenrir 60 caps are back and pretty strong during jp prime, and no caps continue. Lakshmi has 60's i hear but nocaps are unheard of.

Pretty late response, but.. this is the only intelligent post I've seen about ballista in.. well, ever. So many people come over and get ganked, gimp it up for 3 months and then leave(or god forbid they stay anyway..). Nobody takes the warnings seriously.

It's a shame you don't play anymore Goltana, good luck to ya in other stuff. /cerberussalute

I have been a big fan of ballista from the first time I tried it many years ago. I am going to give it one last try soon. I say try because I am not much good i'm afraid. I try but am slow ' fraid its an old dog thing. Anyway I decided to find out for myself where ballista is still being played.
Up to last week I was on Lakshmi, carbuncle and fennir. Lakshmi fills almost every 60 cap, carbuncle had large 60 caps in japanese time and fennir[there were uncapped but I don't play it so...] only had 2 small 60 caps in the 3 months I was there. Now I am on shiva [no signs yet],quetzalcoatl [2 small matches to date], lakshmi [still going strong] and carbuncle[still some big matches]. I will post again with some stats in a few weeks. Hope this helps anyone looking to play. I know I ended up in worlds that were supposed to have things they did not and 3 months is a long time. BTW anyone needs a sidekick I am.......... Still hoping this old dog can learn!

It's been about two weeks so here is an update. I am only checking 60's and am no longer checking fennir. Shiva there is no sign of life at all. Quetzalcoatl has had 5 matches total with between 6 and 13 players. Lakshmi has filled almost every 60 and has between 7 and 24 players per match with most in the 14-18 range. Carbuncle fills most 60's with the range per match between 8 and 51. I would say the average is in the high 20's. So those 2 servers would be your best bet. If you play in NA prime Lakshmi is best and Japanese prime carbuncle would be best. If anyone has any info or rumors Let me know and I will check it out. Still have not gotten up the nerve to start making a fool of myself again so I will just keep watching.
