Pfft, they haven't even finished their last expansion yet. This game doesn't have another 3 years in it for a new expansion. I'm guessing mini-expansions with 2-3 new areas in it, if that. Maybe a new region. Possibly a new job or two to have something to level with your summoner friends in korroloka.

Already see how the FAQ will go

"We'll think about it"
"We'll take it back to Japan with us"
"I don't know"
"PS2 limitations"

Story wise WotG is like 90% complete, and SE usually announces or hints at a new expansion around this point.

"Question: We feel that Absolute Virture is too overpowered. Can you please do the opposite of what we want?

Answer: We will take that back with us to our Mog House."

Side note:

DELICIOUS TEARS!

Seriously though, I'm glad SE is at least trying to make SMN a worthwhile job to have before 70 in an EXP situation than giving them an avatar that won't help them in any way.

Dreaming here. But would be kind of cool if they dropped PS2 support and did a graphics upgrade to the game with the engine FFXIV is on. I think doing that alone with a bit of re balancing could add alot of life to FFXI.

Heck if they wanted to they could even make the upgrade optional and make PS2 users and lesser PC users(ones without top of the line PCs) use the older look while those with PS3's 360's and High End PC's would get a new look.

Either way i doubt it will happen. It would steal XIV's thunder.

I'm personally betting on more new mini expansion thingy's

THIS

Also I can see 3 years from now in concerns with FFXIV

"We'll think about it"
"We'll take it back to Japan with us"
"I don't know"
"PS3 limitations" <-------

But for this I can see a couple things happening

SMN get the new avatars and are moderatly pleased with new content but let down by abilities use.
SMN dont get their avatars and game population plummets
Job adjustments to BLM finally
Job adjustments for random things we didnt think about or need
Some useful job adjustments that make the game slightly more bearable
New expansion released
WoTG finished(PLEASE PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN)

If SMNs get their avatar then bitch I swear I'll find where they live and throatpunch them in their sleep.

If SMNs get so pissed they leave over this... fucking ROFL.

Quote

Job adjustments to BLM finally

I still can't see anything to give BLMs, someone said something about a JA that makes their next spell a 100% MB if there isn't a SC which could work I suppose...

Quote

Job adjustments for random things we didnt think about or need

IE: More footwork

Quote

Some useful job adjustments that make the game slightly more bearable

Wishful thinking probably

New expansion released

This is what I'm putting my money on, that way SE will keep more players around when XIV launches, but with PS2 games becomming more scarce this could be an issue. Considering when I got WotG for my PS2 at Bestbuy they took them off the shelves about a week later.

This, 1000 f*cking times this. It's hard enough actually finding people for quests/missions.

Are you serious? How would that add any life to FFXI? I can sit around Whitegate with nothing left to do but atleast it'll look good.

If it is a new expansion they better not have any horseshit like WotG.

The only thing I could see them giving BLMs is a 5 min lvl 60 ability that doubles MB damage with half the enmity cost. Might seem overpowered, but it would get BLMs back into more traditional exp settings possibly.... Who am I kidding? That'll never happen. lol burn pts are too popular now.

If they do another expansion it'll either be the Mithra homeland or the Far East or whatever where the ninja and samurai come from. One thing I would also like to see is them make a few more automaton frames for PUP. I could imagine them throwing in a NIN or SAM style maton or something. PUP does share some gear with NIN/SAM/MNK and I could see some traveling PUPs that live there make matons in the style of those around them.

But if they do make another expansion, I swear to Christ it better not be mini ones like ACP/AMK/ASA... I'm redoing ACP11 right now and that final fight is such dickshit, I'm surprised I bought the other two.. Haven't even started them yet, but I will once this first nightmare is over.

Iirc that was the first platform it was released on in Japan and a fair portion of JP players play on the PS2. And we all know SE wont do anything to make the JP community get butthurt.

"Discussion with developers" will talk about FFXI (many) future updates; Famitsu revealed there'll enough content until autumn 2010. There might be a surprise.

Players coming at the event will receive in-game chocobo cap for their characters and a REAL tenugui towel (japanese towel in cotton).

It could also be the far north where the Giags originally came from.
