I wanna see BLMs up front smacking mobs with their stupid staves, give them an ability that lets them self skill chain so they can magic burst all the time. Also, elemental drains would be neat.

It could also be the far north where the Gigas originally came from.

I couldn't see them making any storylines out of there. Plus all they'd do is make new beauc-like zones with reskinned gigas and all you'd hear is people bitching about it, like how they reskinned the old areas for WotG. Unless they add it in unison with the Orcish homeland next door, then I dunno. It's possible.

FFXI isnt dying but it is againg. It is an old game, back from a different MMO time. The main problem I see currently with it is that it is japanese developed. There customer service and player support response time is few and far between. The game does not dynamically change greatly and job adjustments are few and far between. If FFXI wishes to stay comptetive, SE isn going to need to put a more active roll in updates, which I dont see happening. As far as BLMs are convcerned they are plauged by the same problems the other mages have, but unfortunatly the other mages have was around them. For one no natural MP regen is just sad. Having to either use a juice, or a refresh creates downtime. With natural MP regen (more than just 1/MPtick) BLMs would be slightly more viable. Also if there spells have lower cast/recast time and cost BLM could surive nuking longer. Then again FFXI will always be a party game, thats just the way it is. I would like to feel that the dev team had a more active roll and implimented more suggestions from the player base. This is one area for example where WoW accels at. FFXI isnt dead and I do feel like at the fan festival there is about a 40% chance will see some new content announced either in expansion or or mini stories. I hope the finish WoTG and possibly give us the other parts of Vana diel that the have always spoke of in lore. I hope they continue to reveal more secrets and give more info about game mechanics and adjustments. And as personal shout out to the dev team for a fan request, I am really hoping at some point we can either here, see, or inteact with Altana herself one day.....

i'd be pleasantly surprised if they came up with an entire new expansion...
the idea of new areas would definitely interest me though..

personally i hope that we'll ever get to see the southern islands of the Mithran homelands, although I get the impression they aren't very big. Perhaps in that case, theres enough space to cover the far North and the South in the same expansion. The far East and the far West have both not been covered either.. so who knows.

Lion owes me a round the world boat trip. I'm calling North, Far East, South and West in this expansion (this is why WotG sucks).

Seriously though. I hope they announce a Far East expansion.
Ten pages of "NO AVATAR ANNOUNCED FUUUUUUUU" followed by ten threads of "PHOENIX IS COME?!?!"

SMN doesn't need an avatar, SMN needs a better use/reason to be in an EXP PT before the 70s

What the hell?

They really leave it until last minute to tell people when the event is, let alone not giving other continents much in the way of time to get there... Or better still have the cash to be able to travel to a country like Japan.

Or give you time to time travel back to 2008 and register a jp pol account and keep it active so you can have a shot at being one of the 1114 people who will be selected to get tickets..

I really doubt there'll be a new regular-sized expansion... They don't have 3 years to finish it this time.

a new full expansion for FFXI? one would hope.

More addons more than likely, since people actually bought the damn things. You speak with your dollar. People have already basically said with their dollar, we want FFXI to be one of those cash shop MMOs, but we don't want to look like hypocrites so make sure to cover it up with some dialogue in between.

I smell a new expansion, stick that in your pipe the idiots who keep crying this game is dead!

What a company does is completely immaterial to whether a game is "dead" or not. The game certainly isn't as healthy as it was 3 or 4 years ago, but this is to be expected. MMOs, by their nature, are constantly on life support, because the game requires many players to be on, and for the creators to continue supporting the servers.

I don't think anybody is claiming the game is dead, just that it's dying, which is true for any MMO. I doubt FFXI will be gone anytime soon though, since Everquest is still around. As long as the most hardcore players are still around the game will probably make enough money to be worth keeping up. As far as new players coming in though, I think the game's been dead for a long time. The game just is too unforgiving to new players.

Anyway, if a new expansion is coming out, I'm actually not too interested in the Far East. It's just a generic collection of Ninja and Samurai folklore. It's not that interesting at all- it's a lot cooler as something that just appears from time to time. Maybe that's just me, though.

The only areas added in WoW's Wrath of the Lich King were arctic wasteland and forest-like areas, and it looks interesting enough. If the artists are creative they can make it look good. It will still be more interesting than slightly edited version of old areas.
