Avatar had fantastic visuals, an interesting world, and a relatively neat sentient species. Granted, the acting and script were marginally terrible, but I've seen hundreds of worse movies. I've read thousands of worse books. Does it deserve the Golden Globe? Fuck no, but does the Golden Globe even mean anything to me? Heh.

All of that is true for plenty of movies in the past. Realize that Twilight is also originally a book series that truly demonstrated everything awful a writer can do. You can say what you want about this movie, but it's no Twilight. Twilight is also a plague on everything it was attempting to write about. At best, this movie represents a relatively average core that got too much attention from the masses (as bad as it was, it's not nearly as bad as you guys make it out to be - it's the same mediocre crap that's been coming out for years, but it's no travesty). Twilight is an example of the worst possible edition to literature that was even more widely accepted.

Like James Cameron is on the boards wondering how you feel about his movie and whether the writing was up to par with your standards. Most likely you've paid to see it and put money into his supposedly undeserving pockets. And no, I don't care if you watched it online and didn't pay to see it, not my point. And while you're sitting here crying about how lame a movie is, it's making bank and you still suck. As for the comparison to Twilight, I see no real similarities between the two other than the retarded fans getting way too into it. What's your point? This has happened for almost every single movie/tv show/cartoon since god knows how long. How many dorks do you see going to conventions and dressing up as lame ninjas, boba fett, or klingons? Really, trying to pull down something that's popular for no good reason is just dumb. You're not cool, get over yourself.
