There's a lot of shit on TV these days, but is there anything that's so god damn terrible that its mere existence infuriates you? Typical bitching about reality TV aside, I'm saddened by the massive influx of vampire/demon shows. I mean, I saw an ad for a show about a vampire private detective. What the fuck? It seems the age of the police/forensic procedural is over, and the idiocy vacuum is being filled with multiple vampire-centric shows, each based around a different half-wit hack's idea of modern mythological creature "lore". It SUCKS. I'm told Supernatural isn't bad, but then again, I was also told True Blood wasn't bad, so I'm not even giving it a chance. It just looks like another Buffy the Vampire Slayer rehash without the sole redeeming feature of an attractive blonde lead anyway.
That said there's still a few really good shows around. A fairly new show, Men of a Certain Age, completely surprised me with excellent writing and acting. Futurama's on its way back and even The Simpsons has picked up its act in its last couple of seasons. House is as fantastic as ever.
So how 'bout you guys? What televised atrocities do you most abhor, and what few beacons of light shine through the cesspool of reality, vampires & Seth MacFarlane bullshit just often enough to persuade you not to cancel your cable and relegate your TV to serving as visual output for video games only?

About the last show that managed to keep my attention for longer than ten seconds was Lost, and that went to shit after the first series. G.O.L.D. were doing re-runs of Yes, Minister (again) and that shit never ceases to amuse me. That's about it, my love for television died when Channel Five stopped airing Bear in the Big Blue House. I stick to watching documentaries online these days, they can run in the background so I don't even need to stop gaming while I fill my mind with relatively useless knowledge.
Biggest travesty on TV recently? Popstar to Opera star. Just fucking die.

I approve this message. But I'd also like to add Red Dwarf (until they changed Kochanski), Mr Benn and Bod.

What. New Kochanski was hot as hell. Early Kochanski was scary.

Granted. But the writing got shitty circa new Kochanski. I'm talking content here, not eye candy.

Favorites: Scrubs, Family Guy, It's always Sunny in Philadelphia, How I met your mother, Big bang theory, Arrested Development.
Crap: Stuff like Survivor, american idol, so you think you can dance, america's got talent, etc. Reality/contest shows are all the same. You got one "cool guy" judge, one psycho bitch and one uptight british fuck who thinks they know it all and have the right to judge others and acts like an asshole to gain the audiences love. It's the same formula for every show. Also, the new season of scrubs does suck. It pisses me off how terrible it's gotten. But I still end up watching it for the occasional lulz. :/

My favs: Scrubs, The Office (NA version), Simpsons, King of the Hill
Worst: Cavemen, Brothers, Jeff Dunham Show, anything on MTV.
I could go on forever, but that is a general idea. I only did recent ones, I could go back to the 80's. >_>

Also, Quantum Leap was an 80s show that rocked

I've been meaning to watch Dexter, I've heard nothing but good about it. But I watched part of an episode in the breakroom at work once and was super confused about what happened and it seemed weird. lol I guess it's something you'd have to watch from the very beginning.

Best: The Shield (Sucks that it ended, but hands down had the best series finale for a show, period), Lost, 24, maybe the first season of Heroes, Supernatural
Worst: I seriously fucking hate reality shows, so think of any reality show you can and toss it right here
