Is FFXIV finally confirmed for Xbox 360?
"A LinkedIn CV from a Square Enix employee has finally confirmed what's been obvious for a while: Final Fantasy XIV is coming to Xbox 360. The profile of Yuuki Akama shows the MMO will be appearing on the platform alongside releases on PC and PlayStation 3.
It says:
'Final Fantasy XIV" for PC, PS3, Xbox360'"
I also put in a poll asking this question: "If Microsoft wrangled SE to require Xbox Live Gold to play FFXIV, would you still play on the 360?"
In other words, would you still play FFXIV on the 360? There hasn't been any word or confirmation if Square-Enix has managed to talk Microsoft into allowing FFXIV not require Xbox Live Gold as it has done with FFXI, which only needs Silver membership. To those not in the know, Gold you pay for monthly, quarterly, or yearly; whereas Silver is completely free but you don't get a lot of niceties or exclusive DLCs, etc.
This also applies to microtransactions/DLCs which hasn't been confirmed by SE as well for FFXIV. If there are microtransactions/DLCs similar to Korean free-to-play MMOs and others using similar, would that require Live Gold to purchase them?
FFXIV confirmed for 360?

I voted yes, simply because I already have a Xbox Live Gold account
Since FFXI worked off of PlayOnline rather then Micro$oft (other then their system) there was never a need to go Gold for DLCs or anything like that, unless Micro$oft starts charging for things that are free like they did with Left 4 Dead. It was just another roadblock you had to detour around before actually playing the game lol.
I can see FFXIV bringing more Gold members though since unless there's some in-game voice chat system; people are going to want to be able to co-ordinate things via Xbox Live like I see people in FFXI doing now. Or that you'll need Xbox Live Gold in order to use the voice chat system if implemented into FFXIV by Square-Enix. That's a personal choice though.

I did hear also that PSN is planning on charging fee's for their online services. What this might mean that Microsoft might be getting an advantage right now since players only did PSN for the free games (which 360 most likely has also) to avoid the gold membership of microsoft.
What this may be is that SEI is thinking in advance just incase something like this occurs. They wouldnt want to lose players from PSN if they turned it into a fee charging online service. (Does it make any sense on what I'm trying to explain?)

One year after release: "We are sorry, but due to Xbox 360 limitations, we are unable to implement this feature."
...
Yay!
Anyway, to stay on topic, I'd say "No.", because having to pay for a MMORPG on top of the Gold membership would just be too expensive, thus it wouldn't be worthwhile. You could just save the money you would have spent on the months/years of Gold membership and purchase a Ps3 instead. Also, I can imagine many a people wouldn't be able to afford it, either.

Personally, I would LOVE to play on my 360, because then I wouldnt have to load windows back onto my Mac to play. And I wouldnt mind having to buy a gold account, because I already have one, and I already use it for other games. Basically, if you buy gold for a year, its only like 6 or 7 dollars a month. Its not that big of a deal. I have been wondering if they would release XIV for 360 though. It seemed like it would be a bad idea not to. Just have that many more possible people to play, you know?

No voice chat, long load times while trying to compare trophies etc.
Microsoft can charge for xbox live because it is far superior to PSN.

I'd call BS on Sony thinking about charging.
Unfortunately, it's been mentioned before. :/

That may all change someday as we’ve heard repeated remarks from Sony executives that the company is considering charging for some of its PSN services. We’ve seen questionnaires sent to our U.K. readers about what services they’d like to see in a paid PSN account, and we’ve heard from Sony’s Masayuki Chatani about the possibility of monthly-fee for a premium account. In a recent interview with IGN, Sony senior VP of marketing Peter Dille says the possibility of per-fee PSN is “something that [Sony’s] actively thinking about.”

You currently do not have to have a gold membership to play FFXI so i assume it will be the same for FFXIV. but if they did i would still pay for both

When I heard about Monster Hunter Frontier coming to 360 in Japan and paying for the monthly subscription allowed you to get a month of Xbox live gold too, I wondered if it meant anything for XIV. Then I remembered about XI. Is Playonline the reason XI is silver because it's not downloading updates from Microsoft and XIV getting rid of any sort of Playonline type thing the reason it needs to be gold?
I'd say in the case of Monster Hunter Frontier it has more to do with making the 360 more attractive in that territory but maybe something similar has been planned out for over here too.

Unfortunately, I went researching after I said that. Sony's reasoning only makes sense. They'd probably up a lot of things though Sony is quite perceptive to what people want though.
If you understand anything about business though, considering SE's current direction, this only makes sense that this would happen. They were in negotiations when FFXIV was first announced. They even expressed a desire to have it on on 360. Considering it is a cross-platform MMORPG... it only makes sense to want it on as many consoles as possible.

As long as it does not affect limitation issues, I welcome 360 players.

Im not on xbox360 anymore moved over to ps3 but id say no just keep it like FFXI on the 360 you can play it without Gold but if you do gold then get your achievements.

Yes. you get achievements less than 1% of the player base will ever manage to get all of? Namely the Relic wielders!
Most people with 360 probably have gold memberships, but then there's the select few that don't really play much online and what not. At this point in time I really don't think it matters much if it's silver. To me I personally don't want to pay extra on top of a P2P game, but as said... most people are paying for Gold to use most other Xbox Live features anyway.

I just used silver when I had an xbox, but I never played any other gold titles.
Something about just having to pay, no matter the price, to enjoy online capabilities just rubbed me the wrong way.
Oh and plus I hate Halo.

i get the impression that XIV was always intended to be multi-console, with PS3 being the primary platform and xb360 being considered as an alternative.
at the time of its first announcement it seems quite obvious that no plans had been finalized with the 360 but im sure negotiations were in the works. I read somewhere that the Sony rep actually left out 'at launch' when declaring FFXIV a PS3 exclusive.. but that probably wasnt a mistake. I'm sure it might have been a way to get more pS3 sales.. and it probably got some...
but thats sales tactics for ya

It's impossible to day it was exclusive ever though since it was also intended for PC at launch... But yeah. Pushin' Consoles.
