So me and Senx have been stuck here in ballista bootcamp/ Lakshmi and the experience has been...interesting to say the least. (FAR from dull though haha) Uncaps here (at least until this past week) have been trialsome beyond words. There are 3 main jobs and 2 sub jobs that the good JPs of Lakshmi seem to swear by... Main: Rdm, PLD, and BLU. Sub: rdm, pld. Even the very few 'damage' melees that show up have /pld or /rdm subbed. "That's just playing smart' you say? Mmmm..true to an extent. But then we factor in the fact that EVERY rdm throws around phalanx II like its going outta style and you get a better picture of how hard it is to kill people here. ...or was. ho ho ho~

Breaking point was at Pashow...mother of god. 102 to 0. Me (mnk/war), drg/pld, brd/nin, and whm/rdm VS rdm/blm, whm/rdm, nin/rdm, and war/sam. Match starts. I gets down on me knees in humble galka fashion and beg the brd to Finale the war to death because I already know the rdms gonna be phalanx IIing his ass off. Same thing with the whm. "You don't even have to cure me lol..just dispel dispel dispel" We engage.

Nothing.

No dispel. No Finale. Just Horde Lullaby. I get binded, the brd/nin gets jailraped, followed by the drg. The war/sam meanwhile is enjoying life to the fullest with phalanx, defender, and a rdm and whm curebombing him. This little fiasco continues 80% of the match until our whm switches to sam/nin and the drg goes rdm. Sadly its too late by then.

So Im sittin' at my desk in darkest silence wondering just where the frack I went wrong (though tbh I didn't really think there was too much a brainless mnk could do D:) i r at the very tip of insanity since it seems theres just no way to gets around all the defenses...phalanx..cocoon....defender..sentinal...stoneskin...yadda yadda. Suddenly I remember a taru (I think it was Ryolen -Fenrir) /ing brd at a meri and popping off my buffs. "C- ..could it work? O_O; Ah what the hell..ain't got nothing ta lose."
I unlock brd then run it to 37 in 3 days...just in time for Jugnar uncaps.

H O L Y..... *insert divine light sound*


The sub is fuggin amazing...
I go mnk/brd with a full def-setup, (bb, jelly, soil ring, orc hands, Bastok mantle, Tav tacos) + faiths. Time to test it out. Among opponents were a nin/rdm, a drk/rdm, and a blu/rdm. I'll spare the details save that seeing a fresh Utsusemi: Ni get ripped off a nin with Horde (it actually sticks too O_O) making him instantly nekkie is disturbingly gratifying and that peeling dread spikes off a drk the sec he casts it is, frankly, orgasmic. Jumping on a blu/rdms back for free though? Oi....there are no words. Once you pop off Cocoon and Phalanx...it..its like youre at a fancy resturaunt enjoying crab O_O; (Up until recently 'squishy' would be the last word I'd use to describe a blu in general but...)

I expected Finale to get resisted more than half the time. I must've casted it no less than 60 times. Got resisted once..by the pld/rdm. Ended up scoring 271
Army's Paeon + a full merit Chakra gives back 800+ hp. Raptor Maz works wonders when headed to a rook or returning from death/camp. Advancing March is always welcomed by a mnk. Best of all... Finale finale finale.

If it seems im exagurating ANY of this, pleeeeeeeeeezzze test it out for yourself (especially if youre dealing with heavily defensive groups) Wipe out 3rd Eye, then rip of Seigan....bye bye Retaliate... laterz Sentinel (it even works when Rampart is up O_O) This sub really adds a tactical element to the fight. What can I say.

Yo man.....still on Lakshmi for about a week and a half more. Been hearing great things about Fenrir's uncaps. Still sounds like the ghetto of ballista and I can't wait to get back ><;;;

Like I said earlier though lol..you saved me from going insane over here with all the defensive play going on. You probably don't remember it but I remember clearly getting owned royally cuz of joo ( /slap) Was at meri. I was mnk/pld, Had Garik and Cloud on my back. Cloud souleaters and I pop sentinel. I'm in the proccess of typing /grin at Cloud when I see "Ryolen casts Magic Finale. Sinistralx's sentinel effect dissappears!" Aaaah hell...

But ya man..../brd is crazy. Not having to type "Em has a body boost! Someone lethe him!" every other second is rewardling in itself XD. My hats off to you, little one!

Sini you can leave all that /brd BS back at Lakshmi. You dont gotta worry bout none of that in fenrir lol. We dont gear for Defense >_> we gear for atk so we can drive by nigs real quick.

Indeed, you come mnk/brd to uncap in fenrir, you'll live a couple seconds before you see the 4 digit numbers scrolling up your log, but since you were here before im sure you already knew that sin. I was actually thinking of trying it out but then my black side was like "nig wtf you thinkin!?"

trolling? lol your views are flawed. i used to ballista a shitload with the JPs on thf/nin. the whole system is flawed and very one sided. it shouldnt be like that. 1 job shouldnt be able to fight 5 people at once and come out on top.

lol. i ballista'd all the fucking time you moron. anyone who's dont ballista knows the system is flawed. no shit its a team basted thing, but it was obvious when one team was gonna win(i.e they had the mnk/blus the mnk/rdms the rdm/wars the rngs with the KCs and ridills, etc). im not saying ballista was bad, im just saying it was a busted system they they could have made much better.

Pre-damage gimp (when asurans were doing 1k+ and sidewinders 2k) ya, ballista mighta been a lil broken lol (god forbid ya had all tarus..1-shot ; but its significantly different nowadays lol. If 1 person is taking on 5 and winning nowadays, its either because he/she is fighting 5 smn/rngs without mp or arrows, or the 5 just don't know wtf they're doing. Can't blame that on the system itself. (Case in point my 100-0 loss at pashow @_@; Granted, you're gonna have those days where you look at your team at startup then look heavenward and ask the lord 'why? ; ;' but thats just like hoping everyday is a sunny one lol >_>; Aah well..ballista's not for everyone.

As for Unclegreen and TBMC, me getting dropped in 5 seconds will be more fun than Ive had in 3 months XD. Considering the alternative is death by bio and pld- sword pokes (ZZzzZZzZ) wierd as it may sound..me can't wait to get me ass handed to me. Skillchain mah galka bunz off please! Sign me up for the hitlist! Haha..I think thats why Fenrir's so damn fun, everyone goes attack.

I've seen SMN's stomp the shit out MNK's before. RNG's with K clubs are lawl if they're fighting anything with access to phalanx and/or stoneskin. 1 SCH can do that to an entire team. Your arguement is void.

There are times when you know you're going to get your ass handed to you. I'll give you that. But it ain't because X job > Y job (though it does play a small factor.) it's because the players themselves that you probably know by name/playstyle... aren't exactly the best in the world. A team that works together will beat a team of "overpowered" jobs any day of the week. Your unbalanced arguement only applies to 1v1's, which is not what ballista is at all.

i know real ballista is tem based, i've done a shitload of it. i've seen smns as you have said smash people. it's all about the skill of the player(s) to an extent. but after awhile, ballistaing with the same jobs over and over got dull and boring.

Then it doesn't make the entire event lame just because you're burnt out on it.

If it's boring, level a new job and give that a whirl. Want ballista on hard mode? roll a DNC or other seemingly "lol" job.

If anything be glad your server still does it. I miss going to ballista during NA times (can still catch a JP 60 cap early morning, but usually HNM's got me on a leash.)

I enjoyed ballista when I was a newer player. Now I just can't seem to get into it, although I haven't tried it in years. It just seems like a cookie cutter thing. You have a BLU or MNK or some cookie cutter setup that can just beat everything else, no balance.
