The only reason I'm looking forward to the event is:

1. Even though I play much more casually now I'm curious to know what they want to do with FFXI to keep all the players from deserting it when XIV releases.

2. It's guaranteed that we'll get some more input on FFXIV.

I know I said I was thinking an expansion, but I now doubt that's the case. Since if it was I'm sure SE would have copyrighted something now. Since that's how we figured out about ToAU and WotG if I recall correctly.

Content wise this game is dead anyway sadly, most of the stuff they add hardly ever gets used after a month. Look at how hyped people got at Evoliths and you hardly see people talk about it anymore.

and based on those pics.. this is what i got..

1. we're such cockteases. we have info and u don't.

2. thats a mithra looking out at sea somewhere.. but where? and what is she wearing?

3. a macro. seems to be /ma ____ <me>. macro is s1 too. summon 1? who knows.

not much, but getting people to think on the possibility is nice

not entirely true. perhaps you and I are above such marketing tactics but some people have already fallen for it.

there are already people who are speculating how that mithra is looking out to sea, waiting for a boat that will take her to Tsahya or the southern MIthran islands. in other words, they are speculating at a new full expansion. seems kinda baseless if its just this picture but its part of building hype.

And seeing as we have 10 days leading up to the event, this is probably only the start. a first wave of pics they're releasing. there will be more pics and more teasers, probably some on FFXI's POL main page too.
Things should really start heating up next week.

They're not too bright then. That 2nd pic looks like it's from Windy and the 3rd confirms it since that's the tunnel leading to a MH.

its plausible then, dont u think? there could always be a new ship/airship that starts leaving from Windy to the south.. and Windurst IS the closest of the 3 nations to the Mithran people (both in terms of political relations and geography)

to me, the macro pic is inside the windy MH tho.. and u cant really tell anything from the sea pic. there are lotsa coasts/ports that look like that.

I can kind of see /ma "Atomos" <me>. Regardless it seems to be missing the "" around whatever spell it is casting, boy do I hope they don't correct that and their macros fail live.

If they did it'd be in Kazham to me. Since that's the southernmost area in the game. Either way an expansion won't happen unless you can DL it off the POL site, but even then I'd be more worried about congestion on the servers than anything.

Historically, it's also the first island the mithras migrated to as well.

There big announcement will be FFXI will be shut down once FFXIV starts due to how dead alot of the servers have become that would suck though not for me cause im not on FFXI anymore but for the few who have abit left on there and if it is the announcement that it will be shut down the ppl that go to vanafest gonna feel like this.
