I understood you, but it was superfluous. People powerleveling their crafts don't research much. They're completely random and I was just stating that they're easy to spot. I knew a guy who did that and tried acting like he was a well experienced crafter.

You're correct - upon interaction with these individuals, it takes approx 30 seconds to notice there's something iffy.

They're also one of the main reasons why most people lose money trying to craft. I try telling people that if they want a craft that's not too TOO expensive to reach 100 with, go Bonecraft.

Gilbuying does not equal a disbelief in the whole directional crafting theory... which is btw total BS anyway and anyone who has been crafting for a few years and can actually observe connections in their hq/success rates rather than the "everyone says it works so it must" types could tell you that.

I knew a guy when i was like 80ish goldsmithing who would kiss my ass and thought i was like a god of my craft and always asked me some of the dumbest ass question but i still gave advice, anyway this dude got to 100 goldsmithing from 0 before i even got to the 90's from the 80's and they still would ask my advice about the craft...

because i was profiting more at 80ish, selling more HQ's than they were at 100... ah yah and another thing that tipped me off about this dude or chick or whatever it was... this feminine acting mithra person they only had paladin 75 and had pretty much just started the game, no endgame experience and was somehow totally completely fucking rich

anyway things like this indicate a power leveler gil buyer type, not if they believe the directional crafting bullshit lol and it is just that, i sometimes do it just to humor myself but in reality it doesnt do shit.

That would be another tip-off to me. Nobody just randomly power-levels Goldsmithing from 0 to 100 unless they were RMTing. I wouldn't believe anyone if they told me otherwise.

lol you reminded me of someone. This she-male from my server who I exposed as RMT. When (s)he got to 50, (s)he mysteriously went from having very out-dated, crappy gear to all HQ/bragging gear. The ways that (s)he gave as to how they obtained gear was laughable. They included (but not limited to):

1) I'm max in every craft (Guess (s)he should have found out that you can only max 1)

2) I fight Gods all the time and sell the drops (Your first character, not even level 60 and rank 5 (gotta be rank 6 to even do the quest chain to get sky access))

3) I solo NMs for all my gear (I'd like to see a level 55 Blm solo Serket)

It turned out, this person started by trading nude pics of "herself" for items/gil then when the "relationship" ended, (s)he became an IGE frequent flyer.

It was just a sign for me back in the day. There are all kinds of signs. Real crafters can easily spot those people.

Yea the person im talking about used to ask me for general crafting questions all the time. We used to be in the same social and hung out for a while..hell i even gave this person gil to a point (never more then 10k, always used to bitch about not having gil lol) one day (s)he dissappeared for a few months. Comes back and PL'd each craft to 60 then did gold to 100 in like 3 months, mind u this is during the great inflation. I never asked him/her where their gil came from but it was extreamly obvious.

If I were you, I would have asked. It's interesting to see the answers they give when they scramble to come up with one really quick.

I know the types. I knew a guy who acted the same way after acquiring his first piece of sky gear.

precisely who i mean.

i wish i didnt tell this person shit either, when i was going through the orichalcum hell of the 90's they were buying everything up at outtrageous prices too, givin them advice kicked me in the balls in the end, at least they disappeared soon after getting to 100 though, guess they felt dumb for PLing and not being able to profit at 100 or something and things went back to normal.
