If you wanna turn the job into some hybrid soloer, fine. Just don't spread your bullshit gospel around a forum where we know the limitations of our job, and realize what it's real niche is. Damage. Not soloing. If you want to solo something, go level DNC, THF, NIN, MNK, and mainly Red Mage. Those jobs can fucking solo. SAM is lower on the list, and takes poor merit choices to become decent at it.

I doubt most of you were playing before me since I started at NA release. Spreading gospel? I started a thread with a simple question to the people that actually do solo on SAM but instead I get a bunch of retards saying sam sux solo, or cant solo, RDM or NIN ONLY kinda crap. If you read my other posts I clearly say damage is our job wtf are you talking about? I have rdm and nin lvled so I dont know whats your point quoting that. The fact that you say:

means you dont understand this thread at all, you're trying to turn this into a "SAM is a better solo job than XXX job" or "SAM should merit TE " thread, which it isnt and I havent said anything like that. I'm sure there are alot of sams here that may agree with you that SAM is a full out DD job as do I, but they can also respect my point saying that it can solo which it can. Well there are people who like to test the limit of their job....sam can solo, it just needs alot more items to do so lol. Like potions, food, tp booster etc...
I think the problem with this topic is we don't have enough sams who try to solo hard mobs even duoing or trioing is noteworthy

Chances are, if SAM can solo it...MNK can solo it in half the time, RDM can solo it safer, and NIN is somewhere in between MNK and RDM.
SAM just isnt that great at solo play. Can it solo? Yes? Does any real SAM care to solo on their SAM when they most likely have MNK or NIN leveled? No.

Point in case, do what you want with your SAM, the rest of us will save ourselves time, effort, and gil soloing on a job better suited for solo.

The only thing I can really say about SAM soloing is that its usually terrible for any period longer than 30 seconds. When I first finished Amano I tried out the Sky augment doll and would just blow 2hr on it. I subbed PLD for sentinel because 3rd eye would always crap out on me too early to help with the high attack rate.

I've seen RDM's attempting to solo it and fail miserably. I always liked to pop it right afterwards and smite it like a boss.

But I don't see SAM in any extended period solo fights. Just shit that you can obliterate before it obliterates you. Very few applications of it overall, though.

Who gives a flying fuck about SAM's solo ability, I'm the type of person to run in all guns blazing and pray for the best. Let's take FF13 for example, I got to Gran Pulse. First thing I did was run into a adamantoise to see how far I would go(that was funny as hell btw). People like to do things differently and bashing them merely because they try to do stuff that most deem silly/unimportant is kinda counter-productive from my perspective. Most of you opposing this thread say that you know SAM's limits but the problem is, you're bashing this thread so I instantly think you actually don't, not saying this is true but it's just from reading the thread, I get that feeling.

Anyways, on topic~ I'd say the hardest fight I have personally done was against Sabotender Mariachi. I was strolling through kuftal on SAM/DNC and found him, 1k needles is ok to deal with but when he uses it every TP he gets it gets kinda hardcore, had no room to kite because I was surrounded by other cactuars and crabs, not to mention good ol' Guivre running around eating people, which leads me to my next attempt same night.. much like my FF13 example, I tried Guivre, lol I did indeed get him to 87% before he para'd me and then I did pretty fast after that, I knew I probably wasn't going to beat him but it was still fun to try.

Alas, no hard feelings to the people I bashed in this post but seriously, it's not hard to see when someone has their own fingers stuck up their ass.

Well I solo'd a gil buying 75 rng as sam/thf back in 06 but that's about as good as it gets.

Mobs uhh that's probably more luck than skill until we get this 99 cap and even then I still dunno.

All I know is it'd would get alot better if we get some more statues effect Ws's. Para/blind are nice but -def and -atk and -eva would be a little more lovely or even a ws that didnt use the full % of the TP and maybe just half of your tp with low dmg but maybe stun and no possible way to SC? ( I know wtf is sam w/o SC but hey I wanna make Sam a little more orginal now that jobs can self SC instead of just sam like it used to be execpt when ppl got lucky)

Before ppl start saying we already have a stun WS just re-read what I just said cause right now that WS is fucking retarded unless you got sobo or meditate up just a waste of TP imo and dun spam what if questions cause mages can do the stuns until this idea comes true lol

The only thing I've found solo'ing on SAM either easier or even possible compared to other jobs is Picolaton. The NM that drops Thrakon Breastplate. I've seen thf's pld's and rdm's drop to it trying to solo it. Usually when I do, I come out with about 150 hp left and my 2 hour is gone.
