Mid-March? They'd advertising the new update all of, what, two weeks in advance? Maybe three? I'm betting the content will be practically zero.

Or they're planning to dump it all out at Vana'fest.

I see new SAM updates and not a smidgen for SMN!

Vari... *shhh* careful what you say there, the Summoners might strap you to a wooden stake and burn you alive in the middle of San d'Oria for heresy and libelous slander!

Honestly, after the last major update, I don't expect much in this next one. It would take something that is an equivalent of hearing an announcement on revamping how HNMs work to surprise me in this next update. That's the level of expectation I have.

The only campaign change I want to see is revamping the fucking medal system. Losing medals just because I don't happen to be playing? No thanks.

If they just turned Blade Bash back to a 25' ranged ability, I'd be happy. Not even for claiming purposes, tho. Chuckin muh sword halfway across the mire to blast Imps in the face was like some major Highlander shit.

Please put the C.A. permanently at the location they are when beastmen own the zones. I am so fed up getting pummeled by mobs while i`m in a CS to join a union.

Hopefully announce something semi-interesting, although I expect nothing other than new MMM additions and synergy recipes that no one will use.

^ This x1000. I get so sick of either getting owned by mobs or NPCs being douches and spamming Protect IV and Shell while I'm joining a Union. Also, fix it so there isn't a long pause while registering. You have no idea how many times I tried to join one and hit no by accident cause I can't tell if I'm lagging from 50+ npcs and people being around or the option to join is just taking a while. That pisses me off to hell.

Pic 3: They gimp dmg and exp off seige weapons like they did with fortifications, forcing us to kill off the pets that spawn until the battle ends.

Square Enix has decided to try their hand at FFXI add-on scenarios again with the announcement of the Abyssea series. This year, players will be able to purchase Vision of Abyssea, Heroes of Abyssea and Scars of Abyssea. In a change from last year's offerings, these particular add-ons will include all-new areas and montsers to challenge adventurers. Instead of a quest lines, Abyssea will feature numerous "battle areas" aimed at high-level players, along the lines of Dynamis, where they can enjoy fighting epic battles and obtaining powerful equipment. The idea is to make a foray into Abyssea something that players can put together and enjoy without the need for excessive amounts of free time.

The first set of battle areas in Vision of Abyssea is set to hit PlayOnline in early Spring. Heroes of Abyssea and Scars of Abyssea will then be released in succession with a few months between each title. The current price is listed at 980 yen (about $10).

The parallel world of Abyssea will bring more than just mystery, though, it will also contain many new creatures and the ancient treasures they protect. Pictured above are three of the monsters one can expect to see in the upcoming add-ons. Could it be that Iron Giants will make their FFXI debut? The developers stated that players can expect completely new types of monsters as well as creative versions of old NMs and bosses.

One thing that is certain is AF3 will be among the prized equipment up for grabs. So far, Square Enix has only teased us with Paladin and Black Mage AF3, but the aforementioned artwork for Abyssea may be giving us a glimpse at the garb for some other jobs as well. Speaking of which, one can see a number of weapons circling those free-falling adventurers. Will the advent of new AF armor also bring new AF weapons?
