So, unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard about the SE's big plans for rocking the shit out of FFXI by eventually having a 99 Lvl Cap and such.

I know it's still waaaaaaaaaay too early to decide what's gonna be the most optimal overall SJ for Brd now, but I was just wondering what other Brds were thinking about the upcoming changes.

Personally, I quit FFXI at the start of June and now this update has intensely piqued my interest... mostly because I've always been interested in what it'd be like if the level cap were to be raised to these kind of levels.

As far as I know, SE hasn't really gotten into any details as for what Brd's gonna get from this update, but I hope it's more than what we've been getting. :/
While situationally useful, Pianissimo really wasn't THAT earth shattering (Not to mention that update happened a long ass time ago)... so what else could they give us?

Possible Ballad III?

Army's Paeon VI to accomodate for higher HP realms?

New Tiers for pretty much all songs lol? (Minuet/Minne/March/Etc.)

Massacre Elegy??? @.@ (This would be so hawt... but pretty overpowered, then again, SE IS raising the level cap to eventually be 99... <.<)

Maybe we'll actually get a new, neat JA for once?

Possible thoughts on how Gjallarhorn/Carnwenhan could be affected through those quests to upgrade them?

I'd hazard a guess that the ones we use now will be still the most used, even at 99.

Isn't that like a millionaire getting emo over losing a dollar? What I mean is, why long for something you don't need? BRD is totally fine with no updates. Don't get me wrong, I'd welcome a new awesome JA or song like the next career BRD, but I just don't see it happening. If it isn't broken, ya know?

Isn't everything situationally useful? I <3 Pianissimo. Especially these days when your party doesn't stay still, and the last thing you want to do is give your melee ballad.

If RDM gets refresh II then yes. If not, I highly doubt it. I can't see leveling from 75 - 99 being a small job, even though I also believe SE knows that it'll only piss the player base off if they make it too lengthy. Like BLM were hinted at getting meteor in the future, I'm sure BRD, and other spell/song casters will get new spells/songs just like the usual 1-75 grind.

If any BRD casts Paeon on me in end game (outside of down-time) I'd ask them where they bought their account.

As above, yes, I do believe we will get the next tiers of spells. Oh, and what part of being level 99 isn't overpowered? Yes Massacre Elegy would be awesome, but compared to having a party/alliance of 99s slogging away would be way more overpowered.

From what SE revealed, I'd guess the new system for upgrading gear will make relics and the such way more powerful than they are now. That being said I also think that someone with a good non-relic weapon (Blau Dolch for example) that had been upgraded in the correct way would stand up to a non-upgraded relic.

Either way, exciting times await.

I'm of the opinion that brd will need Ballad III and rdm will need refresh II on the way to 99. It would be silly not to upgrade them.

Honestly, the implementation of Ballad III and Elegy III would probably make me break my promise to not return.
