PUP solo help?

Ok, so I'm good at BST, but I seem to have trouble with soloing PUP. I understand how to use maneuvers and everything and I know there's a change in play style with PUP vs. BST, but it just seems slower to me.

Does any one have any advice? My PUP is currently lvl 20. I got the Stormwaker frame at 10 and Sharpshot at 20 (haven't had time to really level up it's ranged skill... ugh, so slow.)

Thanks in advance.

worm > 14.5-yalms deloy auto rng> provoke with auto>sit back and hit it till it dies > 37 super fast.

beyond that take ep-dc in FoV until 40 when you can get whm head, at which point soloing just came a lot easier. Then target ep-T mobs depending on what you are capable of killing for best xp/hr.

bst =/= pup is the slightest. if your auto starts attacking at those lvs and curing he is going to get hit and you wont be able to ADD him often. Its basically keep a light manuever up at all times to force a cure over other stuff. Then toss up w/o manuever you think you need at the time, wind for silence, earth for slow, dark for blund, etc.... I normally keep ice/dark/light up all times since the auto will para/blind and spam cures faster with the ice manuever up.

Look buddy, PUP is an awesome job so keep it up. All you need is to get the most useful attachments ASAP even though they're expensive lol (I'm too lazy to post the basic and necessary attachments sorry lol but you can always go to wiki for that > .>). But stick with the Stormwaker for soloing, and if you get invited to pt (lawl right) use Sharpshooter, if you're worrying about skilling up your automaton well Stormwaker does melee and magic skill ups but that's another story. Anyway PUP gets waaaaaaaaaay better after 30, having berserk as /war and being able to obtain Soulsoother head which is the most amazing thing that could have happened to PUP. At early levels make sure you have Damage Gauge (if your automaton can heal of course) and Shock Absorber all the time, they're gonna save your life.

So what I'm trying to say here is, if you're soloing use mage frame, in pt do ranger frame. And do a bunch of FOV for lvling up they're easy enough. Again once you hit lvl 30 and get Soulsoother things will go easier on your soloing. Good luck!

Honestly, you should be in parties in that level. PUP is too damn strong in early parties, and is never as effective of a solo job as BSt. We can solo all the way, but it's slower even than BST is. If you prefer the solo game, follow the advice of the people before me, but if you're not afraid of partying, dont feel like you HAVE to solo, like many BSTs feel that they do.

I have honestly never really seen a use for VE in solo, maybe with some speed+ boots kiting a mob with passive low movement speed as /war while VE slices it. But I'd guess Storm would still be better in that case and you wouldn't really have to sub warrior for Storm. But the update is coming soon and is said to improve VE in a defensive way. Maybe we'll be able to cure him (or VE be able to cure itself).

But for solo I honestly don't see the use, at least not yet.

VE is useful in early levels, and is pretty good when it gets cannibal blade. VE will never wow you with dmg but its a great DoT frame. I also favor VE most of the time in PvP (doubt you care about that tho) and is great for some HNM's.

as for soloing. your subs of choice usually are nin and dnc. If you go dnc stack in evasion and dmg minus (if u can find it dmg - gear for me is jelly ring and patronus). for nin, the rule still applies but maybe is not as necessary. also pre update pup requires a LOT of acc to hit the target so you have to do a lot more balancing in gear on pup

pup soloing is different is a very different beast than bst. on bst pets are expendable because theres always another one nearby so u can let them tank for u. pup is the opposite; in most situations you tank and your pet supports you because puppets have the defense of a wet paper bag. the master does too but has eva and/or shadows to fall back on.

Rather than solo which has its merits, PUP doesn't have to full party either. As a "tank" with auto curing with ANY other DD or hybrid class as a DUO PUP destroys things. FoV is great for this when you focus on chaining EM-T with the occasionally VT. I have been duoing with a BLU friend of mine and we are unstoppable.
