Don't buy this game it's not worth it. It runs basically like a movie not a game. Rent it but don't buy it, you're going to be pissed you wasted the money. It basically plays like FFXI but you're not able to talk to the other characters. You're not able to go where you want. You can't even enjoy moving around in the battle. This basically looks like it could have been played on ps2. Final fantasy 12 looks better. I was shocked and disapointed, they changed the game so that it was more focused for x-box users. The X-box users don't like having to run around on the games. I feel they should have let us had a demo version then. I waited 5 years for this game just to feel disapointed. It's no need for even having a guid book lol, the game plays itself. All you do is botton slash pushing.

If you're main character dies the whole game is over. Which sucks badly, you die and rest are alive you still lose. You can't break all cutscenes, you can't really avoid enemies if you want too. There are no towns in this game, so basically i'm watching Final Fantasy 13 the movie. It feels like I got ripped off for a 60 dollar movie disc.

you have mass effec that has a lot of free roaming, FFXII was a big let down.

You can not blame FXIII's failure just because you can play it on xbox. I am shocked what came out of it by what people are saying after 5 years or w/e it took it make it.

but xbox is not to blame

Good news for you then if you bought the game from gamestop or EBgames, you can return the game within 7 days of purchase if you do not like it or finish the game in that time, I suggest you do so now.

What ever happened to games being good because they are actually good, and not because they look pretty... =\

I still say 3D is what ruined the gamming world.

12 was pretty good I thought, the only problem it had was fights didn't change a lot from start to finish.

I am going to let every character have everything from the start.
lets allow people to let the computer play the game
lets have a simple and predictable storyline.

10 allowed that but you really had to grind for weeks/months ( I did not do it) , i did not get it though leveling. in 12 i had no idea how i wanted to spend LP because everyone had everything from 14 on with killing bosses in one move. having lots of hp =/= hard i did not bother with the extra stuff much. i had a 42 and 52 level team and did not do anything after that. first FF i never bothered to replayed. other FF i replayed just to understand the story better. It was like FFXI in offline mode, i did not like spending 2-3 hours just to kill a mob that has no chance of dropping a ribbon.

guess you like easy mode simple games.

Who in the hell cares if it is on the 360? They have 250gb HDD's now, so limitations will not be an issue.

Seriously, does the world stop spinning when a game goes to various consoles instead of one?

While PS3 and 360 fanboys will be bitching over it, I will be playing on the PC. Making a game multi-console is always a good idea unless they do a piss poor job on the porting.

And this, sadly, is what usually happens. (O hay FFXIII)

Of course, I never mentioned I'd be playing 14 on PC too, if I even buy it. lololololololConsolefags.

You missed the part where I said the game hardly changes from start to finish I guess?

um, u CAN skip cut scenes.

Im definitely not happy with allot of features, but after being used to FFs tradition of change, it feels MORE like a FF if its nothing like the previous lol...

The only issue i have with the game, is constantly getting bored with the LONG areas im in.

And the camera is annoying enough to make it hard to enjoy scenery. (though its nice to at least have the option to take it off reverse which i hated about FF12)

Im actually disappointed in the graphics as well, considering they took out SO much of the game, because they wanted the graphics to be top notch... honestly, the graphics are sub-par for normal, its all just artwork that makes it look good. (Rather than technical stuff like bit-mapping and such)

But like Aion, graphics arnt important rly, but considering the graphics are so low.... i dont understand why they couldnt make towns...

Lost odyssey and other games that were made by SE, and such all had towns lol....

Oh well, the best way to sum up FFXIII is to say its perfectly in the middle of FFX and FFXII.

Not the best of both, or worst of both, just right in the middle of each
story is better than FF12, but worse than FF10 and so forth.

Ill be happy with it, but of course it wont be in my top 10s or anything.

Just playing to have fun. and in general, doing that, with a bit of boredom here and there when areas drag out too long.

but yeah FF14 on 360 is all in MS doing, not SE.

I am very happy with FFXIII.

As much as I liked 12, it really pulled away from how a traditional Final Fantasy should be played and felt out of place. 13 comes in and brings what I loved about the series back. I agree with the above poster that some of the dungeons are longer than they need to be, but I always love a challenge. The characters are well developed and I have grown into them already, including the voice acting, which is top notch in my opinion.

The battle system is really what makes this game flourish. It is fast, strategic, and can be difficult the more you get through the game, also appreciate how all the mechanics come in overtime and do not overwhelm you. Not once have I gotten bored of fighting over and over, it keeps me on the edge of my seat.

I am about 25 hours in and just now reached the halfway point on this game, I will definitely give it credit on being long and not getting dreadful in some areas. And last, the music in this game is so great, love the mix of orchestrated and electric type themes that fit perfectly in the given situation. I do complain that I could not pick who my party leader was till halfway through the game, was at times I did not enjoy the characters I built into a casting role taking the role of party leader.

Is the game perfect? Not at all. Would I recommend this to a western RPG player who loves building sand castles all day? Not at all. But as a big JRPG fan and a really big Final Fantasy fan, I am not disappointed with this game at all and highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the series.

I myself own both 360 and PS3 but I will admit... I do hate having the option to move/run around on the games. It gets so old and tiring.

Something that I remembered last minute. To why this game is set the way it is. FF13 is not the only version of 13 coming out. There are atleast 4 versions coming out, the versus and the one with the blonde girl and guy. Can't remember what the last is suppose to be. Remembering that, I see why maybe its so narrow.

They didn't shorten it because of x-box's system. It's because many that use x-box don't play games that linger on for along time. So they made it so x-box players would enjoy the game also. However, they don't realize alot of us like to build up our characters and make them our's. FF13 you're character isn't you're anymore, everyone has the same character lol. So playing the game is all played the same way. Is why it sucks to most people, you can't be pimped out anymore. It would be like playing FFXI but everyone has the same look and gear and items. They all onlu get the play the game the same way. That would get pretty boring.

The linearity of FF13 was there 5 years ago, back then they 1st showed the battle system.

They showed u lightning running in the woods (now u go through there as Vannile) it was a straight path, and thats the very 1st thing i complained about.

Also the reason the whole battle system is the way it is, was to cover up their failed attempt of a different battle system.

They originally made it with only 1 person in battle, and that it. (no partners)

This is because the battle system was meant to play out more like a movie, that had events that wouldnt repeat in theory.
Lets say it starts off with u running on a street, then boss jumps down, u can buff 1st before lightning would get there, depending, then she runs away, fights while running, jumps into a building, car collides into building because of boss, and so forth. (maybe also why the areas feel like they are on a track)

The idea was to make battles that would feel like u were playing Advent Children the game (no i dont mean FF7 lol)
This alone was hard enough to pull off...

then me, and others complained they wanted more party members... so SE was like, well we already have the base programming done, and adding in more isnt going to work, unless we AI them...
(yes the BS about it being too hard to control them all is BS, we have controlled 3-5 party members in other FF games just fine lol)

but the extra AI controlled characters made fights too hard to make... so now they have a weaker version of FF12 fights... (the ONLY reason u had AI in FF12 was because u could actually move ur character around, where thats not possible otherwise (u could still chose every attack if u wanted to))

So to add some control over the situation and make fights feel like they have a new spin on them, they added job changing.

And thats how we got to where we are now.

Im sure Nomura wants to see an "Advent Children" battle system come true for his own game, but time will tell if he can pull it off or not. (he sorta tried that with reaction commands from KH2, which are commonly seen in games like God of War)

None of the things u see in FF13 were done because it was going to 360 as well. These were all planned back in the day, when it was originally going to be for PS2.

This isnt SEs call, this is Microsofts call. only MS can decide if they will allow FFXIV to play with PS3 users, and be played w/o XBL

i amend what i said previously, the game, doesnt look bad...its just fucking impossible to read shit, without me getting up from my chair, and walking the 5 feet up to my tv, which i do whenever i check what items i found, thinking of removing my hd, and putting it on my brothers xbox in the basement when he's not around, cuz his xbox is on a bigger (but still sd) tv

Hello2u Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

This is Nomuras action/adventure project. Still no gameplay footage, but he said the game is going to be a mix of Kingdom Hearts with an acrobatic style like characters in the Advent Children movie.

I am sure it is underway and will be out early 2011. I think what Nomura wanted to do was keep full focus on FFXIII till it came out, and then bring it out during E3 this year, along with Agito, but that is only a speculation. Look very forward to it.

One more thing, what the hell makes you think a game company will use its original design for a game? I have never seen a game where their original ideas became absolute to the very end, I do not see what is so different about 13. FFXII wasn't even free roam for the first few years of development.

Will be interesting to see, only thing I can think of is them trying something like in Dark Cloud where you needed to press buttons in sequence in certain events or you'd fail.
