I agree with everyone here when they say that your friend needs help.
Whether or not you press charges is up to you, and it's a tough spot to be in if you're his friend; but what needs to be understood is that you may not be the last person he jumps, and if there is a next time, that person might not be so lucky.
It's heartbreaking to see the damage done to our soldiers through both mental and physical injuries, and my heart goes out to all of you. I can't begin to imagine all of the stress you guys get put through and it sucks that the only things I can offer are words of encouragement.

For your friend's sake, please try to reach out to him, and if you're scared of going it alone, see if there's people close to him that'd be willing to help out. One of the worst things about stress is the feeling of being alone, and not knowing how to reach out or who to talk to. A little support can go a long way^^

War does stuff to you, you see things a normal human should not see, and a man thinks they can handle it. he needs time to re-coop, and wash away all the nightmare. He will feel bad and just wait. I know cause I seen some nasty sheet in my life and time is a cure that many don't know about.
