how much skill do you nuke in? non-HNM

Recently I've been farming aerns with a friend of mine for capes.
My normal full damage set as BLM/WHM(provided I'm not using sorc ring, which I'm usually too lazy to use)
tarutaru, INT merits: 5/5, elemental skill 8/8
81+48 INT over 50% mp, 81+45 if under 50%
292 elemental skill, +4macc
before you count my staff

the aerns in hu'xzoi didn't really resist my nukes often, but the aerns in ru'hmet seemed to resist more often, which seemed odd. Should I nuke in more skill on them, or was this just a string of bad luck on resists?
edit: obviously the best way for me to see is to test it out, but I'm more curious about how much skill others nuke in.

HQ staff / bugard +1 / --- / phantom tathlum
selenian cap(int+4,mab+2,macc+2,hhp+3) / uggy pendany&philomath / moldavite / novio
redingote(mab+4,enm-5) / zenith mitts / tamas / snow
gleeman's cape / witch sash / morrigan's slops / yigit

Ditch the redingote, use Weskit. You have everything else right except that, from what I can tell.

Aerns have retarded resist rates sometimes, i just nuke in skill on those if im solo so i dont get fucked

I was thinking about dropping z mitts for af+1 gloves while fighting them, since we kill them in 2 nukes each anyway, no point in trying to make more damage while having less consistency

I use:
Aquilo's/Bugard+1/_______/Phantom
Demon +1/Prudence/Moldy/Diamond (INT+1, MAB+1)
Oracle's/Zenith/Diamond/Snow
Prism/Penitent's/Mahatma/Yigit

8/8 Elemental, 5/5 STR <_<;

Anyway, I'm pretty sure with that build I'm fairly sure my resist rate is floored on most Aerns. With Thunder I use:

Jupiter's/Bugard+1/_______/Phantom
Demon +1/Elemental/Moldy/Diamond (INT+1, MAB+1)
Oracle's/Zenith/Diamond/Snow
Prism/Penitent's/Mahatma/Yigit

Obviously Thunder has a lot less magical accuracy, and I feel that sometimes my MAcc hit rate is capped with the first set and not with the second. Sometimes the first set might even be uncapped. The difference is: -3 Elemental Skill, -10 INT


What you have to remember is that Aerns all have different jobs, which means they have different INT levels. So the Summoner, Black Mage, Dark Knight, etc. Aerns might just be harder to land nukes on than the Monks, Warriors, etc.

Not sure who this was aimed at, but Weskit would have more overall M. Accuracy than redingote with MaB+4 and Enmity-5, would it not?

yes, it would, but I don't carry my weskit with me ever really, I only keep one because I got it a couple years ago signed by some dood.

For something like puddings, i use full MAB/INT gear cause i know that if i get resisted it means im meant to die. But if im soloing aerns, i need to know that my nukes wont get resisted, cause if i link i have to kill them asap before im overwhelmed and i die.

You could just escape and you won't have to worry about getting beat down then.

I've been using the gear I listed to solo Aerns for the last months and a half, with one exception. I forgot I upgraded Penitent's Rope to Sorc belt. It has gotten me 6 Deeds of Sensibility, 6 Deeds of Moderation, and an Altruistic Cape.

Also, I'm fairly sure Ix'Drk at least is less resistant than the average Aerns. I guess it's because he is forced to level 81 and the normal Aerns are 81->84.

I can nuke him in this on RDM and do okay:
Aquilo's/Bugard+1/_____/Phantom Tathlum
AF+1 hat/Prudence/Moldy/Diamond (INT+1/MAB+1)
Errant Hpl/Z.mitts/Diamond/Snow
Prism/Penitent's/Mahatma Slops/Duelist Boots

3 Ice MAcc merits, 8/8 Elemental

I don't really know about Ix'Drg, because I kill him on BLM.

HQ, Bugard +1, P. Tath.
Demon+1, P. Stole, Moldy, Novio
Mo Robe, M. Cuffs, Snow, Sorc
Gleeman's, Witch, M. Slops, M. Pigaches

Working on ingots to finish out M. Crown thus no rush much less bother for Yigit Feet. Full Ele skill and ice/thunder and I very very rarely get resisted on aerns Ix'DRK, ect.
Nice job on all those deeds :)

Thanks, lol. I really have to credit persistence, luck, and my friends more than anything else. Sad thing is, that's not a list of all the sea pops I've farmed in that time. That list would be:
7 Sensibilities
7 Moderations (and one Cape)
7 Second Virtues (6 Virtues + 15 chips)
4 HQ Aern organs
3 HQ Euvhi organs (sold a few just for gil because I can't solo Faith)
5 Placidity

I have an arrangement set up with 1-2 other RDM/NINs where they get Temp Torques and I get First Virtues. Also have a deal with some other people where I help them kill Faith and they give me Third Virtues. So at the moment I'm building towards 7 Loves sets lowman with friends. Obviously Temperances are the biggest issue at the moment, but I know I can duo him (because I've done it a lot on Byrth) it just takes some time.

Takes a long time, but I can only offer the torque to one other person. RDM x2 + BLU also goes much faster, though it's a little more dangerous. Obviously I'm trying to see what I can work out, but it's easier to pop him, get him stable duoing RDM/NIN x2, and then see if I can get anyone to help from my friendslist.

There is only a few things you need elemental skill on.

The only thing in sea i worry about resist rates where i put on relic hat and af +1 hands is JoL. I honesly do not get why you would have resist problems on anything else cept maybe INT may effect it? i do not know i am a fully merited taru there is only a few things I incountered where i brake out my acc set, kirin, JoL, sky gods, ( not sky gods off kirin those are power set), oryru, timat, khim.

I forget what cerb , jormy and vtra are like . I think on vrtra im on add duty more anyway.

on mobs on sea I do not get why you are having problems, maybe i would worry about enfeebling magic acc if im soloing but on elemental magic? screw magic acc.

what sea mob are you talking about? i do not know that name, the balls you need to not use the wrong element, if you are nuking those change job things you do less on a whm obliviously, may need dispel too for shell effects.

I read more detail, try soloing as /rdm? >.>.

looks like i have less acc then you in my power set i loose 5 int from sorcs ring, 2 int from not having pants, i use pen rope so magic acc there, i used to use DH +1 so its 6 int vs w/e you had.

i do not think regnote is a blm item, its for SCH, you have wisket.

I do not see any situation where a blm would want to use that.
