Black Mage - Undecided

I am just getting back into the game and had to buy an account because i got a LM-17 on my old one when i tried to reactivate it after 2 years of not playing due to some Credit card issue.

I really wanted to try a caster DD class since last time i was just melee DD and Tank. I was interested in black mage and red mage but from what I've heard people saying is past level 60 or so it is a miracle if you find a party as a BLM.
Now is this totally true or are people just over exaggerating it. Because i would like to be able to solo and get decent xp when i cant find a party, but i don't want to be limited in end game groups and raids as a black mage.
I was also looking at red mages because people say they get groups better, but it seems to me like they rarely nuke and just debuff and backup heal with the occasional nukes. and I don't want to be stuck just debuffing and healing.

Thanks

BLM is one of the easiest jobs to solo with.. and if you group together with a few more BLMs then you'll be able to get exp really fast. I was getting around 20k/hr with 4 BLMs synced to 67 in Xarcabard [S] just last night.

It may be a little more difficult to find a party as a BLM than it would be for a RDM to find a party, but BLMs can solo with out any problems and you should have no problem finding another BLM or two to party with.
