Starting RDM Maybe

I was interested in starting a redmage because i like their abilities being able to nuke, debuff and backup heal if needed.

But i was wondered if its easy to get a group with them, because i am on the Asura server and i saw literally 20 or more redmages standing around in town.
Is the class overplayed so its hard to get a group and if so how does scholar fair when soloing and getting groups?

I can't tell you how fast rdm's get parties these days, as I'm on a closed server. It's fine if you're 75 already, but not so much if you're leveling up. I do know however that I haven't been a backup heal in a party since 2004. I've been main heal, and had backups myself (brd usually IF they are /whm). Nuking I've done mostly solo. Enfeebles are pick and choose what you have time to do before you have to main heal again.

Generally I treated parties as a way to get fast exp so I can do what I really want as rdm, which is pretty near anything.

Some of those RDM's refuse to level sync down in Qufim or Kazam or Valkurm to help others level their subs for the coming level cap increase.

If you are willing to level sync back into those hells again, then add it in your search comment. Do a /sea on whatever jobs you want and form your own party around you, or someone else to level sync to.

Granted, if they only sync in qufim and valk, there are arguably better jobs that can do the same thing, but that is why you'll be the leader.

You will never have a problem finding a party as a RDM, as long as your willing to main heal. As the previous poster said its best to make your own pt's. I have been doing this for years now and it takes maybe 5-20 min depending on whats out there. Heres a couple of the best setups in my opinion.

Lvl 1-14 solo u can probably solo up to about 18 before it really is less effective then partying.

14-32 RDM, Brd or Cor, Dnc DD x3 Try to fill one DD spot with War or Sam shouldn't be that hard. From 24+ have DD's go /nin for damage mitigation and the sam go /war

32-55 is when mobs start hitting harder, Personally I never exp with a tank in my party at any level, but if your new to party setups i highly recomened using one.

Rdm, Brd or cor, Pld or Nin, DD x3

Once you get 55+ is when things speed up in terms of exp/hr. At this level you can pretty much slap anything together have them go /nin and it will work. I've done the whol drg x4 brd rdm, sam x4 brd rdm, pup x4 brd rdm, I've done dnc x6 parties, You can literally pull of anything you can think of for DD's. The best party i have had was level 56 in wajaom woodlans, drk/nin sam/nin drg/nin brd/nin pup/nin brd/nin We had 0 down time and i pulled 2 mobs at a time. The pup use his ranger automaton and the dnc kept us a live, but it was rare anyone got hit. Honstely you could replace any of those jobs with rdm and it would work just as well. The one exception to this anything goes rule is in Caederva mire, You probably want a pld tank there and dont bring any dancers. Personally i dont level any jobs there as that place has always had my number.

With all that said, Rdm is fun and exciting, has 0 issues with finding pt's and if that rare time comes where u cant find one, its pretty easy to make your own. ^_^ hope this helped out some.

Appologies for spelling/grammar i fail at that. I'm a nubmers person ;)

MMM Pt's will swallow the EXP made in those PT's if you do it right, and it's very easy to find a group willing to go MMM (At least on Odin it is, although it's a closed server still, you can very easily find a MMM group and just go in all day if you find enough people to trade tabula's).

Also, inb4 AstralBurn.
