Assuming QD isn't nerfed, let's break down the potential damage/optimal gearset (using current gear, assuming level 80 gear isn't THAT much greater than some of our better current pieces) as RNG80/COR40.
Damage formula: [2 * (Gun base DMG + bullet base DMG)] * (1 + (MAB / 100))] * (Elemental Staff bonus) * (Day/Weather Bonus)
We'll use Fire Shot since RNGs are likely to have Vulcan's anyway. It's also Double Fire weather on Firesday (for the sake of max damage/marabout sandals proc).
Main: Vulcan's Staff (+15% damage bonus)
Ranged: Culverin +1
Ammo: Heavy Shell
Head: Republic Circlet (+5MAB)
Ear: Novio Earring (+7MAB)
Ear: Moldavite Earring (+5MAB)
Legs: Nimue's Tights (+4MAB)
Hands: Toad Mittens (+3MAB)
Feet: Marabout Sandals (+4MAB)
Waist: Karin Obi (forcing proc for +35% dmg bonus)
= +28 MAB, 150 DMG (combined ammo/gun) with +50% bonus from weather/day/staff.
I think that might be our optimum setup.

you are assuming to be an area to use reb circlet + double weather and day?
you know that is rare right? I do not even get that on anything important as blm, i got reb circlet a few times on fafnir that's about it.

lets just wait and see...if QD isn't nerfed Im sure there will be a lot of rng/cor's out there with either Culverin + Heavyshell, or Hellfire+1/Annihilator + High Tail.. I'd say wait and see on this one.

why are you even considering vulcan's staff? nobody uses fire QD because its utility is limited. most cor go earth/wind/dark/light or maybe ice. what mob do you think you'd actually find a fire shot useful on? most everything i've seen in game where fire weather would benefit you does crap vs the mobs in that zone. for any situation you'd actually consider QD valuable enough to warrant /COR, you're going to also be willing to sacrifice your TP to macro in your gear set. no situations are you going to seriously full-time a culverin +1 unless you're flat out zerging. and if that's the case, /WAR or /SAM w/e it up.

Uhm, go get a Kclub and full time culverin+1 on birds.
but in that situtation, /cor is a huge MP sink and switching to stave to use a QD just isn't worth losing the swing from klub for TP~
I was actually interested in what other subs would do to Rng besides cor, any thought about any others? Or still going /sam and /war~

yes, kraken is relevant to this thread when OP speaks of vulcan's staff in main slot. forgive me for assuming the fire+1 staff was because it'd allow a bonus to a QD w/o having to macro out a weapon and lose TP.

I was just commenting on that, if you meant while maining vulcans then sure, totally agreed, cannons don't really work

If RNG does get Quick Draw and they dont nerf it you will rarely be seeing the full unresisted numbers due to the fact that you cant get Quick Draw Acc merits, they make a huge difference, esp since the builds mentioned are mostly MaB.

Your gonna need alot of AGI to make up for 5/5 merits and by doing so your lowering your dmg is all im saying.
Also as i said my comment is based on the fact that your only quoting MaB builds.
Iv had my merits for ages so i cant really quote numbers but i remembering a COR on the forums a while back with around 30~40+ AGI and no merits getting alot of resists.

QD might work for bows and crossbows. A cor has never been able to equip either, so I see a loophole for rune bows.
Also a rng/cor acid bolt followed by wind/dark shot or spartan bullet + thunder shot?

Quick Draw doesn't affect acid or stun.

Hope Torque = +5 AGI

so in 6 armor slots and 1 weapons slot Rng could amass +54AGI and +14INT (We're not BLMS but lets pretend +14 INT will help with MAB) without affecting their normal rng acc/attack efficiency that a COR main can never see.
