i understand you had to agree to a bloody non disclosure agreement person, but i dont think se would boot you for saying that its gonna be a direct download, they'd bust you if you started spouting info about the game that game sites dont already know

I don't care about the NDA, but my post got deleted in Alla for telling something that breaks the NDA, so I'd rather not see it happen here too. I really could not care less if the NDA is broken or whatever.

seeing as most of the modern world who play MMORPGs have decent Internet infrastructure....
and that the PS3 was made to be internet capable, it would make sense that the game be downloaded instead of mailed to you.
(its also a lot cheaper. saves costs incurred during beta.)

The client to DL it will probably be made available on the PSN somehow.

For all you know the entire game could be purchasable online in the future too

i was referring to the PSN store.. but yea.. I'd bet on FFXIV being on steam..

I hope the retail release will see store shelves, though... I can see downloading a beta or a demo, but not the full game. That's crazy talk!

I doubt that will happen any time soon. PC wise we are not 100% jumping into the downloading generation, some people still rather have a hard copy of the game.

I like both, honestly.

I'm an FF game collector (especially for PS versions) so I'd love to own a physical copy of it.. but the convenience of downloading directly to the pc is also hard to pass.
Like, I bought my WotG code from someone online and DLed the game from a torrent - started playing the expansion first too, but also bought the PS2 version of it. (and sold the code )

It's really about marketing really. Since an entire generation's worth of marketing strategy focused on the tangibility of our products, suddenly not being able to touch and see what we own feels almost wrong.
but I'd only buy the PS3 version I think. I don't like PC gameboxes/cases since they're so non-standardized. and used to be so huge too..

I will probably buy a hard copy of it. I will assume they will do a midnight release on this game, and I will download it ahead of time, when they open the game, I dunno, but I will be glad to have it fully installed and ready to go when it does. I can integrate it into Steam later.

Steam sometimes releases games in the afternoon, which I do not care for when it comes to games like this.
