Ok so I went to EB games and they asked me if I wanted to preorder XIV, and that they were getting it in on June 21st?! Seems a bit soon considering beta just started. Anyone else heard or know of this?

its common practice for shops like that to give "best guesstimates" on the release dates of games that have no official date. the sooner they get you to pre-order there. the sooner they know you will not be going to the competition.

GameStop can read the future, they know the release dates before the developers do.

/\

That's pretty much it, if you go back and ask if that is the 100% developer-announced release date, the person (if they care, and know about their store procedures) will tell you that they have dummy dates set in their system just so they can start accepting pre-orders for games that haven't been street dated.

Yea I pretty much figured that, as I have seen no release date anywhere. Kinda did get my hopes up tho lol! Myself I'm figuring it will come out within the last quarter of the year!

Trust me, when an actual release date comes out, people will be screaming it all over these boards and several others.

This.

but we do know it will be in 2010, unless delayed. but that seems unlikely. They could always release an empty game and patch in.

Remember when the PS2 version was supposed to release in October of 2001 with the PC release. After that it got pushed to november... then January, then finally March rolls around and all us PS2 players get to play with our friends!

.. yeah >.> I see FFXIV releasing maybe in early 2011, maybe.

That's true unless you cancel your preorder. Some competitors like Gamestop offer bonuses for preordering to keep you there.
