Anyone besides me think that Nintendo is playing an April Fool's joke a little early this year?

How many effin' remakes of the DS does Nintendo need to make?

Although... EBA/Ouendan in 3D would be something epic.

IIRC Virtual Boy would have been better, but Nintendo rushed it on the market and pretty much had an imcomplete system.

Seeing as how 3D is only effective at a certain level in relation between the source and the eyes, this seems like fucking fail.

I doubt they have April Fool's day in Japan, which is where it was announced.

Exactly

I don't know why Nintendo keeps going on believing that they need to do something new to get people in.

I am sure if they released a handheld with Gamecube graphics, a system built to not cause CT, and a well made joystick, I bet it would sell just as well, maybe even better, since it would hook in the hardcore gamer audience.

I am not completely dissing the DS and the Wii, but Nintendo's idea of innovation pisses me off. I get one good game from the Wii once in a while, a few others on the DS, but any game I play on the DS I feel like it would be better on the PSP.

But for all I know, they may enchance the graphics dramatically. I do wonder on the release date, they said between March 2010 and April 2011. Well obviously not between March and June since they plan to announce it at E3.

Now after then, it could go both ways (that is what she said), you could either sell it near Christmas and make a lot off of it, or you can wait till 2011 and let the DSiXL which isn't even out yet, have time to make sales.

Overall, Nintendo are good at emptying people's wallets no matter what they do.

Also, a note, don't play a Virtual Boy if you are drunk.

The main problem with the VirtuaBoy is it caused killer headaches.

Looked more like back pain to me since keeping that thing on your face looks like more trouble than it's worth.

Only way to keep it on your head like the kid on the picture in the magazine is by duct taping it around your head. Angry Video Game Nerd demonstrated this.

I do not think that Nintendo is necessarily trying to push the DSi XL, despite it having great sales right now.

I think all Nintendo wanted out of DSi XL was an alternate version of DSi, whereas not exactly an improved system, but more of a preference in size.

I bought a DSi XL myself, and it has no improvement hardware wise besides it's size. It is not like the Game Boy Micro that got shunned out shortly after it's release, with DS coming around in the corner.

I read more on the 3DS, and I am not impressed so far, despite the little information that is out there. I hope Nintendo proves me wrong, since I have been very disapointed in their idea of inovation. As nice as that is, I feel like all they do is take a step forward by stepping backwards. Taking motion control and touch screen forward, but going backwards by dumbing down their hardware. I do not completely diss Nintendo, since they still have delievered when it comes to the games I really like (Zelda, Mario, Metroid, etc.). But I think they could really care less about their hardcore audience, but hey, what you have to do to make more money, right?

Impress me this year Nintendo, you haven't since 2006. :D

Nintendo's system is working amazingly, whether real gamers think so or not. Their "dmbed down" hardware is maing more money than the PS3 or the xbox on games and console sales. Fact of the matter is, the casual gaming phenomenon is maing it big ,as evidenced by video game sales on the iPhone/Ipod touch and, soon, the iPad. (if you havent kept up with that, there are currently more game devolpers (i'm talking big pushers here, not people with mediocre programming skills from here) are backing the i-systems than the PSP or the DS. Whether we like it or not, they are making BANK off their strategy. mareting to kids, to families, to adults who enever got into gaming.. just to people who would otherwise not pick up a console.

As for the DS3D, it depends how they do this. First off, on smaller screens, 3D without glasses is much easier to acheive and pull off. With a screen the size of a DSi screen, they can easily make a 3D screen that would work from all primary viewing angles (however, someone else looking in would have a very hard time). There's a korean research group who have nearly acheived a technology to allow glasses-free 3D viewing that would work wel enough for theaters. It would still require specific positioning, thus reducing the number of possible viewers, but compared to current alternatives (which have room for 2-5 people to watch from very specific points) it's workable. The graphics will, also, be far superior than the DS or PSP are currently capable of. The DS3 is rumored to run the Tegra 2. For comparison, the iPhone/iPod touch currently run the Tegra 1, which is stronger than the graphics cards in either the DS or PSP (that's right. they have better graphics than either of the "video game" handhelds. Sad, isnt it?).

long story short: Nintendo knows what they're doing.

I play my DS more than any of my other systems, but until they come out with the next generation DS (not 3D) I'm sticking with my DS Lite.
