Ok so I still can't play but I'm very intrigued on the augments you can put on some weapons, to be more specific on the new MNK/PUP (More like for pup 'cause mnks already get all the good shit) katars the Wargfangs.
From reading FFXI Wiki. After completing trial 77 you get Wargfangs with -15 delay so I'm guessing you'd stand at 0 dmg and 60 delay right? Ok so you do trial 78 after and you get DMG 17, 65 delay and Occasionally double attack.
My question is do you stay at 50 delay for the -15 delay from previous weapon and keep 17 dmg and double attack or will your weapon end as: 17 dmg, 65 delay, occ attk twice? Might be a stupid question but had to ask lol. Also does the "Occasionally attacks twice" rate good like joyeuse or it sucks?
Thanks

I think theres topic on the new weapons in MNK forums, but fromt he picture i saw, its the 70ish delay, + the 60ish delay =/ idk im kinda torn between mantis with 21dmg 55delay, or the super slow weaps that double attack lol

Wargfangs are far better than Mantis, but also a lot harder to obtain unless you've got a LS to do VNMs with regularly.

Disregarding the weird Monk hate (excluding Destroyers, I can't think of a meaningful weapon that doesn't have PUP on it), I've yet to see a completed version of any of the "Occasionally attacks twice" augments. They require collecting 10 Ex drops from various Tier 3 VNMs which is a rather daunting task as people are still figuring out how to pop and kill the things efficiently.
I don't know that the math changes much, especially given the new B+ Hand-to-Hand rating, but fully augmented Wargfangs should be your best bet unless you're in a situation where TP feed would be a danger. Do Puppetmasters melee Salvage Chariots? Because they're damned near the only thing I've ever seriously worried about TP gain on.

I only ever used Spiritreaver to nuke on Chariots when I went as PUP, and as the master I sat back and used sub job or did nothing if I had a melee sub and left all of the work up to my automaton. x_x

I've never meleed a chariot with pup, but also I havent tried since the upgrade. I guess i could try co-tanking with a mnk or sam and use soulsoother. I'm not really sure about it tho.

You'll be two steps behind any serious melee tank, making them pick up your slack while not contributing what another DD job could do.

U guys saw the cat claws that give 18dmg 61delay 4DEX and pet: acc/ranged acc+8? They look pretty good but are situational. Tho I'm still torn cuz warfangs hve like +140 delay lol if the attack x2 isn't as good as joytoy then I ain't bustin my balls for them.

On FFXIclopedia.org, I see +Pet: MDF, +Pet:MATK, and -Pet:PhysDAM
I'm not seeing +ACC/RACC. What path is that?
Edit: Nevermind, I just found it.

Any PUP worth their salt will be hanging back and using the BLM puppet in a Chariot battle. PUP can provide more damage than any other DD (I don't know how much damage the actual DD tanks themselves do, since they must focus so much on shadows as well, so when I say this, I mean DDs who are -not- there to tank). Since PUP can wipe their puppet's hate and stand out of range and just nuke their little hearts out, meleeing chariots on PUP would be a rediculous idea. So, yes, you're right: properly augment Warfangs are prolly gonna be our top dog weapon for melee DPS.
@Aura: Do not attempt to tank a chariot as PUP. for the love of god.
Also: Even though Warfangs seem -excellent- I personally advise PUPs to try and get the +pet M.AB Cat's claws first. Pet M.AB is our endgame, and endgame > meriting weapons.

Wasn't me that proposed the idea of tanking them! I know PUP has no where near the defensive capabilities of a MNK or SAM. XD
Maybe if PUP got Gravity and puppets had better AI, I'd suggest it might be able to solo them the same way SCH does though. >_>

There are multiple occasions where VE will beat out SR in dmg It just depends on what kind of endgame you do

I gave up on "pet : something" augment when I brought PUP to JoL a few month ago. 100% resist rate with 3 ice manoeuvers, chance of 1/4 resist during MB, and no way to control its spell..

Wait wtf 140 delay on Wargfangs? Thought it was only 65 tops there's gotta be something wrong. And getting them doesn't look THAT hard. Grab 2 or 3 friends to do the VNM tier II and get a shit load of those things lol they don't seem that hard to me with the right set up. Of course SE had to be a bitch again making us get 10 of those things but they're not as bad as relic weapons, but killing 400 lizzies look like fun lol and that's an easy task. Either way without getting out of topic does anyone know anything about the questions first asked?

Kinda hard to say, no one knows if the double attack procs on both fists or not yet.

So what are your opinions on weapon choices if you focus solely on the master's stats?
I've been thinking about the Cat's Claws [DMG:+18 Delay:61 DEX+4 Acc+8] as a "cheap" and safe alternative to HS+1, or perhaps the Mantis DMG+21... but the former would be better if Acc were required.
Meh, I'm still unsure.

Yes. Let's see.
Valoredge: JoL, Sky Gods,
Spiritreaver: JoH, J, P, L, F, ect. All Chariots. 90% of ZNMs. Anything requiring delicate hate management (A.D.D hi2u). Most kings. Anything with other BLMs.
Point: Spiritreaver is used much more for endgame than Valoredge.
