How does 12 not count as fantasy? Even Star Wars can be lightly considered fantasy.
ment the sci fi theme vs medevil one.
couse it is all fantasy, i was not aware that subject was being an issue.

If they had made it with knights and swords and crap then you'd have a bunch of other dudes crying about it not being futuristic enough. You can't please 'em all at the same time. Just look forward to the next installment and hope it's in old-times or something. Seems to be a thing with SE where they make a final fantasy in futuristic settings and some in the past settings, and then there's some that just have a bit of both. You even brought up Lost Odyssey as a counter-point, and it's like...they had futuristic stuff in that one, too lol. (not a slam on Lost Odyssey though, cuz I freakin' love that game)
Alright my post isn't the most concise but the point I'm trying to make is that crying about it won't change anything, you might as well enjoy the game or stop playing. You knew how futuristic this game was from the previews, assuming you watched any of them...if so you kinda knew what you were getting when you bought/rented the game. Personally, I hate racing games so I don't play them. I don't go and play them then come to the boards and cry about how much I don't like them.
^ my point all i can say is SE should shift back for the other fans, last few been more on si fi.
I liked the mix themes the best how they can blend the technology there and still "fitting in" with what you expect to see from midevel time. concpets like making airships run on mist, avatars that make you forget your memories for power and such, I like creative concepts that i never seen before. I would not mind an offshoot of a remo and jullet storyline and such because i know new idea bin is getting smaller so the creativeness comes from how to mix them up. Maybe I wouldn't mind a star wars parallel but the chr development needs to be a bit deeper -.-

I will admit I'm a fan of a more standard fantasy based setting (Swords, magic, etc.) than the futuristic setting in 13. I won't complain about that, however in a way it feels like FF13 took a step back in some areas from all the reviews I heard.
Also... Seriously? Trying to compare Star Wars to a FF because the heros are rebels opposing an empire? Not like that concept was original when Star Wars did it.
I am sure star wars is not the first but it is the most popular. So it is easy to refence that as apposed to w/e star wars got themes like that from.
there is a lot of parallels to star wars and FFXII, i hate fan boys that try to argue otherwise acting like FF is all perfect.
