There was a lot of hate on FFXII but to be honest it was my favorite battle system out of any FF yet, I loved the gambit and level up systems. The story wasn't amazing, FFXII was probably the only game where I skipped some of the cutscenes on my first time through (Balthier and Fran are awesome though), but I enjoyed finding all the rare monsters and finishing the hunts.
