So I am trying to kill this Antican NM in quicksand caves which is about a EM/T and I am using carby to do it because there are a lot of adds.
I buff up, sneak, and send carby in, wait for him to die then resummon but the ant links the whole room and I got 10 pissed off buddies of his after me as well.
What is the trick to pulling with carby and not getting adds or did they change that? I remember you could but I think I'm doing it wrong.

for a carby pull to work carby(or an other pet) need to link all the mobs between you and the nm, what you want to do is
/pet assault
/pet retreat
re-sneak/inv
run to your kiting area
/pet assault once any mob that can link on his run from that point to you are linked
run
let pet die or release him
recast fast
Titan and fen make realy good avatars for the pull if you dont think you carby will live,
also IIDK if this still works but you use to be able to delink/pop mobs using shiva's sleepga, when you see the nm has linked cast shiva realy fast sleepaga tageting and only tageting the nm all the hate for the link will be lost when shiva is gone

What you're thinking about is called "kiting". It sounds like you're just standing in one spot, trying to send Carby in and then trying to get Carby back out before the NM gets to you.
To Carby kite, you have to summon, assault then RUN to a safe spot almost out of XP range to give you enough room to resummon for him. He'll then run to meet the NM before he reaches you, giving you time to run again.
Quicksand is not the best place for this method.

If the adds are attacking carby along with your target, once carby dies they'll go back about their business and only your target should come after you, since the adds think they killed the threat
if the adds arent attacking carby then they haven't linked yet, and could be linking cause they're in the path between you and your target when the target comes after you
if youre speaking of centurio it should be easy to manage adds/links in that room. few different methods.but you said "10 pissed off buddies" so don't know if this is the same room we're talking about

If the mobs Link to CARBY, who currently has hate, Then they'll either despawn or stop moving once Carby is dead. But after Carby dies/dismisssed, any buddies it passes on it's way to you, will link on to you since Hate is now on you.

Yeah. It's pretty much answered. Filtered for simplicity, the trick is that for a Carby pull to work, anything and everything that could possibly link must do so BEFORE Carbuncle dies. Anything that does not do so is fair game for linkage after he dies.
