I feel very stupid now after finding out what SE is doing with FF13. They are releasing the other version's as I said they were going to do. However, the game styles are completely different from each other. FF13 the first is a fast action based like kingdom hearts. The second one they are making is more regular rpg that we are use too. So basically they mixed it up for all people to enjoy it. The 3rd version will be kinda like a remake of final fantasy 12 and will be for cell phones also.

Other versions?... enlighten me. The only other 'version' I'm aware of is Final Fantasy Verses 13, which an entirely different game.

Final Fantasy 13 is part of "Fabula Nova Crystallis" (latin for new legend of the crystal or w/e) which is similar to the final fantasy 7 compilation and ivalice saga where it's multiple stories taking place in the same world/universe/etc. Final Fantasy Versus 13(currently ps3 exclusive, but who knows?) is like a kingdom hearts kinda game, since it's directed by the same person who made that (Nomura) and then there's Final Fantasy 13 Agito or something like that, which is an RPG with multiplayer elements (for the psp). Supposedly the games might take place on the same planet(s) at different times in its history or just on different worlds entirely, but all containing the same mythos. Well, at least that's my understanding of it all so far. This information isn't exactly new, it's been reported as such for probably 2 years now, you can check wikipedia or any of the many gaming sites out there for more info.

Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, Final Fantasy Haeresis XIII

That's all 4 parts. Haeresis is trademarked and copyrighted, but other than the name, nothing is known about it.

XIII is the main game in the story which was meant to be very cinematic and straightforward

Versus XIII is a "Road Trip" type story like X was (Road Trip as in a journey or pilgrimage, not "Hey, let's pile up in the car and go somewhere!!") about 2 star crossed lovers, a prince and a girl from an opposing nation both blessed with special powers. The battle system will be a bit more action oriented

Agito XIII is about some kids at a military school, each one possessing mastery over a different weapon.

Wow you just brought up a very good point. Would be sweet to see a single player rpg based on the world of vana'diel. Maybe taking place in its history or maybe taking place after all the expansions. Maybe you play as the child of the main character or something or mass effect style where you import your previous character (go silent protagonist ftw). I dunno, the possibilities would be endless but definitely something I'd be interested in playing.

Oh and to the above post: lol at the road trip thing cuz in the vid for versus you actually see like 3-4 dudes in a car driving around for a majority of it. But yeah, I know it's not about a road trip in that sense.

In my head I once designed a battle system that I think would work for a single player RPG set in vanadiel. FUTURE vanadiel that is..
