What controllers worth with Windows 7 64 bit? Rate Topic: -----

Hi, I recently 'upgraded' to Windows 7 64 bit, and my controllers have stopped working. I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with the controllers as they work with all other games, even the FFXI config and I've tried two.

So my question is, does anyone have any controllers that work with Windows 7 64 bit?

I'm using a Logitech Dual Action gamepad in Windows 7 64bit and previously used a USB Xbox 360 controller for PC and they both worked fine. The logitech I had some problems with and had to go into the software and change an option to get it to work with FFXI config. Other than that they both work fine, although I greatly prefer the Xbox controller.

Double checked config, with my 360 controller, movement/buttons are fine but camera will only move from the bottom left to the top right and the d pad wont move, anyone else experience something like that?

PS3 controlers work like gold on a PC from what I heard, or if you get that USB thing for a PS2 pad that works to.

If you have a PS3 then yes the ps3 controller is the only one that the vibrate will function. The 360 controller wont let you use the triggers as buttons either. So if you've played it on the ps2 you can have the controller set up the same way if you use the ps3 controller. www.motionjoy.com if you have a ps3 controller, you can use it with the usb cable or bluetooth.

I use the XBOX 360 Controller for Windows. Download the free version of XPadder and you can map the triggers to CTRL and ALT (or any other keyboard keypress) to simulate how you would like the controller to work. That way all of the buttons will work exactly how they do on the PS2/360 versions depending on how you set up the controller. Make sure you start XPadder BEFORE FFXI or XPadder won't be able to capture the trigger keypresses.

The xbox 360 controller works good for all games, but in ffxi it wont have the rumble like the ps3 controller will which also works great for all games.

When my fiancee started FFXI again, I had trouble getting her controller to work for FFXI, what I had to do was go to the reg edit and turn off all USB devices then one at a time turn them on until i found out which one was the controller (They all read something like <Unkown USB Device>). Then shortly after when I reinstalled FFXI my controller didnt work either. I eventually found out the problem was in control panel > game controllers. There was a few selections and one at the top said (Default Wireless Device). After I got rid of that it picked up on my controller immediately. Both me and my Fiance use Logitech Dual Action Rumblepads, and we're both using Windows Vista 64bit. I know you said Win7 64, however, these may also be problematic issues throughout multiple OSs. Hope this helps you or anyone else having controller issues.

I'm using the usb xbox360 controller, works great, and who needs rumble for ffxi? Thats like asking for spinning rims on an exercise bike, might be nice, but you're not goin any where either way.
