Magian Weapons: Are you going to bother with them?

So, looking at the magian weapons, none of them look like they're "omgwtfuber" for BRD.

I could see myself getting the D38 and the D33 OAT Daggers for when i want to play around with BRD DD, but how often is that?

So, I guess the question is, are you going to bother with any of them?

The only time I seriously used Bard as a melee was when it was my only level 75 job. Now, mind you, it isn't actually that bad at soloing, assuming you can handle the slow-and-steady method. But once you have practically any other job available, chances are good you'll end up using that. I pulled out my melee kit occasionally to Campaign back some lost XP, that was pretty much it.

Basically, Magian weapons are far too much effort for this job. As far as the daggers are concerned, my understanding is that they're shockingly marginal gains over existing options, anyhow, but that's from a Thief perspective. A dagger like Joyeuse would be nice for Evisceration/Mordant Rime when /Dancer, but not something I'd invest hours upon hours to acquire.

I'd never go out of my way to get a good Bard melee weapon. I have Joyeuse and unlocked Heart Snatcher if I ever have the need to melee but that's about it. If i'm that serious about melee, i'll play with my Samurai.

Also, the oat daggers are rare/ex/aug so you can only have one of them. If you want a good augment weapon, you should try for the -songcast ones from the Fey weapon augment quest @ Grauberg.

The best I've seen is -5% songcast, so dual wielding these plus a yigit/sha'ir will net you a very fast lullabye, (Maybe even fast enough to interrupt enemy sleepga or nukes).

A lot of the daggers do look extremely nice for playing around with Brd DD.

I believe there's even one with Phy. Dmg -5%, which could be combined nicely with Genbu's Shield if you want an Endurance Build that could put out more damage than an Earth/Terra's staff would. (would lose Spirit Taker and 5% Phy. Dmg-, but meh) Imo, it's really too bad that Brd can't use the Danda with the OAT on it. :/

The only weapon non-DD that would interest me the most is the Teiwaz with the Cure Potency +15% on it.

Yes, I realize the extra 5% really wouldn't make or break our current Cure III, but w/e. I really like that SE's adding more Cure Potency gear available to Brd. (<3 Situational Gear lol) We could even get up to +23% with those Add-on Pants/Hat, and even 25-26% with that new synergy Torque, but gl with that lol

I have a TP/WS build for my BRD (Expensive ones at that) and while its not optimal to DD on BRD, when in a situation that allows it (Being the 2nd BRD in merit parties, Campaign, Sky/Sea farming) Its fun to do. I'm looking forward to getting the high damage OAT dagger to offhand instead of Joyeuse (Dagger is 15 skill higher than sword after including Suppa) and I'll be able to use Love Torque instead of PCC.

I never thought of that.

+15 Teiwaz, +3 MKE helm, +5 ASA pants.. 23% with not much trouble to get(save for Teiwaz). Would be nice for the heavy support BRDs.
