as title says I'm looking into the best head piece for cata when I finish (9 jades to go! wooo yes yes loldrk but its my favorite job!)

3 things I'm looking at.

MKD head with +2%ws dmg, +15 acc str+4, heca cap, ares mask

primary food is going to be red curry buns (unless I screw around with sam roll and carbonara)

rest of my cata gear is pretty standard. ares body, onyx feet, onyx legs, black hands(CANNOT GET THESE TO HQ FOR THE LIFE OF ME), soil gorget, brutal/abyssal, swordbelt+1, cerb+1, standard str ring/rajas.

actually if I can change any of my ws set up to maximize cata i'd love to hear it.

I use fierce belt, +3 more atk then swordbelt+1. If you get a lucky augment on swordbelt, like 2STR and 2 AGI, it may be best.

I think the shadow lord head piece is the best WS/aftermath piece

hmmm you may be right about that, but wow my server wasn't merged so we don't have nearly enough bodies to take those areas, to open up that bc. /sigh

I used two sets for Cata a STR set with Heca head for HNMs and Full ares for lessor mobs like in einherjar, limbus, dynamis. Frankly the damage on Cata sucks and is hard to tweak so aim for DA or fSTR.

I had about an 80 damage avg increase when I switched from heca to maats on birds... Same buffs etc. 200+ /ws tests. (Not huge groupings but large enough for me) Still use Heca on big shit.

80 seems like a huge increase from dropping 4str and adding 14 to secondary mods but cata is a crazy WS esp on weak mobs like birds. If that's the case I bet moogle cap will be the clear winner then.

The 14 extra points are adding about 5 base damage increase, not sure if thats going to give you an extra 80 damage, but its a big increase.(Basically +5 fstr increase)

I need to do a complete testing on maats if I can get a merit party together that lasts more than an hour... Would give almost anything to get my hands on a nocturnus helm to try it out....

I remember people saying that demon helm with STR+ Attack+ augments from ANNM was cool for Cata.
