Yeah they probably won't care.

Not unless Jack Chick is gay.

I'm with Path on this one. Just adding a gay character for the sake of having a gay character does not really jive with me. Especially when Archie is aimed at children. I'm all for promoting teaching children about equality, but in a medium such as a comic book, the character is going to have to be very one-dimensional since it's aimed at children. The gay character will probably have no love interests, or if there is one, it will be played out as more of a good friendship, while the straight characters aren't prone to the same treatment.

Either do it correctly or don't do it at all. I must admit, I don't think I've ever read Archie, it just didn't really seem that interesting, nor will it now since they added a gay character. However, it will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

He's bisexual. You're not really publishing an unknown fact. Come to that, at least four of the posters in this thread are into other males. It's 2010, you might want to get caught up on the idea that gay people actually do exist. I mean, even Archie Comics is acknowledging it.

I think leaping gayly forward to 2010 may be a bit traumatic. It might be wise to start the timeline sometime shortly after walking upright became fashionable. ;)

Gay people don't exist. Nor did ancient Greece, the Roman Empire, or feudal Japan. There are also no bisexual animal species.

Well, as long as we are all clear that gays are as mythical as video games about robot unicorns....

Yeah, but the X-Men were never consider to be "wholesome, American family entertainment." Besides, I wouldn't consider X-Men to be truly groundbreaking for the gay community. While Marvel was the first to introduce a gay character in mainstream comics, Northstar was quickly re-closeted and, in fact, never seen again for several years after he was outed. The only other gay character I can even think of is Beast, which is pushing it considering he only "dabbled" in what can only be described as a gross publicity stunt by Marvel. And it turned out his only fling was online and actually a female X-Villian (either Mystique or Emma Frost, I can't remember).

Actually...[I got some help from wiki, however I knew some of the marvel stuff.]

Also, Vigilance you some how got things mixed up. The Colossus in the gay universe never did anything with any of the girl characters. Only beast went after storm, and storm went after wolverine when he disappeared. Colossus openly had a crush on wolverine for short time. He wasn't out from the beginning but he never pretended to be straight.

For Marvel : [Who allegedly had a no gay policy, but at some point stopped.]
Colossus in the ultimate universe was gay. So was Northstar [ He was gay in the mainstream and non-mainstream]. Mystique is bisexual. Hulking and Wiccan have been talked about being a couple. Rictor and Shatterstar have kissed and been said they are both bisexual, however one writer as said he would retcon it should he get the chance. Anole is another gay character.

For DC :
Extrano, who was in new guardians and another publication, new guardians also featured a character dying of aids. John Constantine dealt with gay bashers, along with some other story arc's, featured elderly gay men. They won GLADD awards for it. "Green Lantern also has a lesbian couple, Lee and Li, as supporting characters." More recently they have Midnighter and Apollo getting married [Gay].As of 2006 the lastest Batwomen is a lesbian, along with three bisexual characters Sarah Rainmaker, Icemaiden, and Pied Piper. [If you count the speculation over the early years of batman well...]

DC is more noted for having them, well Marvel is more known for the impact of them so to say.
I do know that Marvel faced some controversy over how they treated some gay characters. However, Same-sex characters have been seen kissing, there has not been a sexual or intimate scene portrayed.

Here is a full list of LGBT characters in comics :

I think you're grossly overstating the importance of those characters, Kinrasha. They're token characters or non-canon stories about primary characters. As it stands, gay characters suffer roughly the same problem that female characters do in comic books: they get killed and stuffed in a fridge. Here's a reference regarding women: http://www.unheardtaunts.com/wir/ And here it is for gay superheroes and their associates: http://perrymooresto...?id=superheroes

Aside form Colossus in ultimate universe, I 100% agree. I was just stating this isn't really ground breaking.

Actually... You're wrong. That Wiki page misses several key story arcs from the Ultimate Universe, among them "Ultimate War" which happened a couple of years before Colossus' outing. During Ultimate War, you find out that Storm couldn't date Beast after what Dr. Cornelius and Weapon X did to him. So she dumped him and started dating Colossus. After the team found out that Colossus was gay, she commented that she always felt that something was "off" between her and Peter.

I've read the ultimate comic's and no, I don't remember any of that. I'm not sure where you're getting this. I used the wiki for a reference not for a solid proof. I know that storm pursued colossus but they never dated. She couldn't cope with the fact that beast had died and then reappeared. Nothing else.

There is clearly only one solution to this disconcerting disagreement.

DISCARD DISCOURSE FOR DISMEMBERMENT, IN THE THUNDERDOME.

couldn't find the video from Frisky Dingo, found the lines though:

Killface: No, look at his face!
Xander Crews/Barnaby Jones: What?
Killface: He's got the mind of a child!
Xander Crews/Barnaby Jones: Aw.
