Northlands(S) takeover! Come together!

Hey all, long time-no post!

So I was talking with a couple people this past week and we decided it would be a fun experience to try and rally the entire server together in attempts to control the Throne Room (S).

There are several benefits to this such as unlocking the Shadow Lord Campaign OP, Fiat Lux-- which has some nice equipment rewards, as well as enabling the Allied Ring for purchase via Allied Notes.

Aside from all the rewards, I think many will agree that some of the greatest memories in FFXI have been some server-wide events and achievements.

To unlock the above rewards, we have to hold Beaucedine(S), Xarcabard(S), Castle Zvahl(S), and Castle Zvahl Keep(S) all at the same time. It doesn't matter which nation owns them, as long as the collective Allied Forces control all 4 areas, all the rewards will be unlocked.

This is an incredibly difficult feat to achieve and will require both cooperation from many NA and JP as we try to overtake the Northlands. Only a few servers, mainly the ones who have recently been merged, have been able to achieve this. I noticed that this past week that the JPs have attempted this, but ultimately fell short and were only able to control Beaucedine and Xarcabard. I believe that if we combine a strategic attempt from both the NA and JP side, we could control all 4 areas. This would be a great way to show that this game isn't dead and that Carbuncle is a server that can still achieve great things.

The weekly Campaign Tally takes place every Sunday @ JP Midnight. (00:00 JST, 16:00 GMT, 11:00 EST, 10:00 CST, 8:00 PST).

While it is import to try and maintain influence in those areas all throughout the week, the success of this mission really come down to the final 12 hours leading up to the weekly campaign tally. There are several different ways we need to approach this if we're to be successful. One important factor is choosing Campaign Ops carefully, such as targeting ones that will increase our resources in campaign battles. Another method is enlisting the aid of several Mercenary NPCs that can make or break campaign battles in the northlands.

Basically, what this will come down to is getting all the help we can get to dominate the campaign battles in the northlands during the final 12 hours. So what I propose is organizing alliance-style campaign battles starting at 11pm EST 5/8 Saturday night. We will plan to push through the wee-hours of the morning obliterating all the battles that occur in the northlands. During that time, when there isn't a battle taking place up there, we will gather alliances and attempt to clear the entire zones. Apparently this has an affect on the campaign influences.

Over this next week, I'll be passing out linkpearls to everyone interested so that we can all have a space for communication during that night. In the meantime, you can find more information about strategies and such at Shadow Lord BCNM Unlocked - Order of the Blue Gartr.

Also, rally all your FFXI friends on Facebook by joining the event page Carbuncle - Northlands Take Over!

Please post below if you plan on coming, or if you have any strategies/ideas to offer for the event!

So whether you're still a full-fledged player, or just occasionally pop on from time to time--
Whether you're in it for Fiat Lux, the Allied Ring, or just for plain ole fun & nostalgia--
Whether you're planning on staying up all night, or can just offer a few hours--
Stock some coffee/beers/redbulls and join us this coming [b]Saturday, 5/8 @11:00pm EST[b] and let's make server history!!!

Will do my best to be there. Doubt I can stay up all the way to conquest though. KI is pretty dead so I really feel like shouting and word of mouth is gonna be the best way to go about gathering the numbers.

JPs made a pretty good effort last conquest and it sets us up pretty good for the coming conquest to have a great shot at opening up the fight. Just can't lose sight of the basic areas in your nation or else fiat lux won't be unlocked for your nation.

Pretty decent turn out not nearly the numbers we need, but was fun. Taking the keep was impressive. It looked to me like it was easier to gain influence in areas under bstmen control where we were attacking. Defending just didn't seem to get us anywhere at all. Had good luck in beau, but pretty much just managed to hold the bar where it was at. Influence was being gained at a very noticable rate in castle until numbers died off. Keep bar went up like 40% in around 2hrs. It definitely appears that going after northlands when all areas are under bstmen control is definitely the best way to go about it.
