Hironobu's latest title coming out in the future called Last Story. Hmmm, don't know why....but this game's theme seems...familiar...must be me. Here are some screenshots from kotaku.com.

Game looks very promising and can't wait to hear more about it in the upcoming E3.

It's kinda like a final story...or a fantasy maybe. A final fantasy, even. Nah, that sounds dumb. Last story it is.

Looks somewhat like the FF12 universe.

Funny you say that, because rumors are that the game is going to run off an RTB system like 12 did.

I did like 12's battle system, it just got repetitive about halfway through is all.

This game looks really cool, I can't wait to find out more about it. But there is one thing I greatly dislike already... it's on the Wii. And only on the Wii as far as I see it. Not that there is much wrong with the Wii, but I think it would be better if it was available on PS3 or Xbox 360!

I can't believe I am saying this, but I am kind of glad it is on the Wii. Only because the system desperately needs hardcore gamer titles to make it a good system, the only good games I get out of the Wii are first party ones. So I welcome a game like this coming to a system who really needs it.

Monster Hunter 3 and this game are giving the system a nice push into the hardcore market, still not by a long shot, but making progress.

The only thing that makes Monster Hunter Tri remotely "hardcore" is its awful, clunky battle system that makes things needlessly difficult.

I'll second the sentiment that this game's potential has bashed into a ruinous iceberg and is rapidly being swallowed into inky, black depths by nature of its console alone. My sentiment may change if it had "Mario" anywhere in the title.

Trauma Center anyone?

Though yeah, I think those are the only 3rd party games I got on my wii I haven't abandoned.

A gameplay trailer for this came out today. I must say, I am very impressed on how this game looks on the Wii, not to mention that the battle system looks really fun, I am looking very forward to this game. They are claiming that a japanese release will be by the end of 2010, no confirmation for US or Europe yet.

Looks like Hironobu Sakaguchi might be bringing some light back in JRPG's. Who knows. :D

I recognize no less than 8 blatant rip-offs of Final Fantasy cutscenes in that trailer.

My favorite is the scene that steals FFIX's cutscene that has the Princess humming a nice tune.

Well since this is made by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, I am okay with him trying to bring what he did best back in a slightly different fashion. He knew people would compare this to Final Fantasy which is his intentions.

With how often people are saying that the old final fantasies stomp the shit out of new ones like 12 or 13, adding some of the successful elements from older, more liked ones ain't exactly a bad thing.

Favorite part of trailer, Eye patch blue shirt kid. Hi2u Fujin

I can agree to an extent. I loved 12 and 13, but they don't give that same feeling that I got from the previous Final Fantasy's. If Last Story gives me the same feeling I did those years ago. :)

I loved 12 too. 13... sad to admit but it's failed to hold my interest. I'll probably finish it some day, but right now it's collecting dust. Never had to force myself to finish a game when it was FF4, 5, etc.

And agree w/ Dragonix, it does look pretty good for a Wii game. That's how their shit should start looking.

It looks fun but I see too much FF12/KH in it. Also the kiddish looks of the main characters almost kills it for me. S-E or Mist needs to make a more serious rpg like Vagrant Story and FFT was to me. PS3 or PSP preferably.

Good job ripping someone's comment from Gamespot...

Speaking of which, I just read on Gamespot that Sakaguchi is thinking of retiring after this one.

Yea he said that when he made Final Fantasy also. He didn't directly say it either, if sales in Last Story are great and the reviews are good, I have no doubt he will continue his work. It is deja vu all over again. I think it is really up to us if he leaves or not, but he said his team is putting 120% into this game, and I know he will do good work on this.
