I Really wonder, Did they change something or do i just have bad luck ?:P

Went with a full pt (xp) about 3-4 hours the horn NEVER broke, not even once, And yes we critted alot lol.

So after the pt disbanded i went solo near nashmau, about a hour still no break.

Did they change something? I remember the horn snapped more often way back when i helped my bro with this spell lol.

My guess is that the chance to break horns (or weapons/tusks/etc, on any ToAU breakable mob) has something to do with your level vs theirs. I've only done a few imp exp parties because I hate their TP moves, but I've rarely seen the horn get broken during them.

I got Frenetic Rip with my wife on her 75 RDM. My crits/WSs/spells rarely broke horns, but she had an easier time of it, even when I was using sneak attack. When you were the one helping someone else get the spell, were you on a 75 job?

Just a guess from experience; no testing done, but either way I would suggest enlisting a lv75 1-handed DD job or MNK to assist. If you can't, you might be better off fighting the imps on the whitegate/nashmau boat. They only appear at night, but are lower level mobs.

I hear if you crit on the side they keep their horn at you have a better chance of breaking it, but yeah.. They suck sometimes to break. I remember spending hours doing that with imps and lamia.

This MIGHT have been patched, but you can learn Frenetic Rip by soloing(or dealing the finishing blow to) Fiendish Leechkeepers without tags on. They hover around any beastmen-controlled fort, and their horns break really easily. I had a friend who was able to do this after the patch that made it so you can't skill up on campaign mobs without tags, so unless there was another patch since then it should still work.

If it doesn't and you have to go back to Caedarva, I've read that Dancer steps and flourishes have a high chance to break the horns.
