Graphics freeze while playing songs

I've been playing FFXI on my current computer for the last 3 years with no problems. My hard drive ended up failing on me and I had to have a new one installed. The system was previously on vista. When they installed the new hard drive they installed it with windows 7. Other than that nothing else was touched or changed. I tried to play yesterday for the first time since I got the system fixed. My main job is brd so I was doing my usual role of playing songs. Every time the songs went off my entire system would freeze for 5-10 seconds and then continue. Really a big problem for trying to apply songs for end game stuff. Every driver is updated so I cant figure out why a simple hard drive replacement would have anything to do with my game goofing up. Every other time the graphics are fine. I can run through town, craft, ect, just not battle. I was playing with the same system right up til the day they replaced the hd. Anyone have an idea? If this continues it's near impossible for me to play anymore.

What graphics card are you using?
Perhaps a newer driver for that card is what is causing the problem (if you didnt keep your gfx drivers up to date on your older harddrive)

I know my friend has been having the same issues, and he plays on PS2/PS3. Happens with Avatars for him as well.

It's a video card still from the pre-built system. Nothing special but at least it used to work. Gforce 6150SE nForce 430.

I know there was an update for the video card in the old version that I had not upgraded to but I also got an error msg in the sys message because of it so not really a choice.
If it's happening on PS3 also then it's a serious issue as well because that I just don't get. From my understanding this is only a recent issue.

I'm having this same problem. I notice my CPU usage for FFXI acting normally then suddenly spiking out. I was thinking I needed a new processor but now that I see this I think it may be server related.

Yeah same problem. Kept an eye on the cpu and evens out around 39% but once a song animation goes off bam freeze. Wouldnt assume a processor problem

Sadly had to deactivate my account today. Really didn't want to but it is impossible to play with this issue. Wish SE would look at resolving this if others are having issues including issues on ps2/ps3 and 360. Not worth paying 13$ for a 2nd straight month when its been impossible to play at all. Not only is it a issue on bard but when I'm the main healer(whm) in einherjar, dynamis, events, ect it doesn't help that my tank dies because I'm frozen for 5 seconds due to the server. ridiculous!

Wow, sorry to hear that. Im hoping they do look into this issue. Because im sure its not my Graphics card doing this, nor is it my memory either. Its got to be a Server related issue.
