Well there we go, video of all the new WS's. A lot look elemental....

So we are getting Sonic Thrust. Single Hit WS by the looks of it. I can only hope its going to be stronger than Wheeling Thrust, please SE give us a decent single hit WS that can stand up to the likes of Gekko / Spinning SLash/ Steel Cyclone etc

so you have a 5% chance of missing? only one hit ws are good for is that they tend to be good SA damage, who subs thf anymore?

I do not like 1 hit ws, i am not sure why you want one unless you want some strong burst power on /thf for some reason

Because we...... dont have one? And there just so happens to be some monsters in the game moves like Drakesbane and Penta Thrust doesnt do very well on? Where strong single hit WS's like Gekko etc ignore defense a fair amount of defense and do great numbers on?

The fact is, we are getting a single hit WS, let it be a good one.

Acc caps at 95%, and all (?) single hit WS's recieve a massive Acc boost that should cap you on most things you fight.

So theres a 5% chance of missing. While multihits obviously rarely miss due to .. well... 4 hits at 95% acc, bound to land atleast one.

It would be nice if we had a 1 hit WS. We are long overdue for one.

Guys, aren't you forgetting something?

Vorpal Thrust - Single-hit attack. Chance of critical varies with TP.

I used it on King Behemoth with /THF and a SAM shit his pants!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, seriously, it would be nice to get a one hit weapon skill that did some great damage. All they have to do is give it the same attributes as something like Gekko.

Hard to say if that will ever happen though. Keep fighting the good fight, DRG's.

Maybe I'm mistaking it but as I watched the video a second time I would say that it seems Sonic Thrust could be some kind of ranged WS where the "sonic" wave is moving towards the enemy. Anybody else saw that or am I wrong?

Yeah I did think the player looks awfully far away from the Manticore, but it could just be bang on the tip of melee range. I cant see a ranged WS being of any use for DRG...

It's hard to say... Kind of doubt it, but I guess it could be possible. It is a long lanky elvaan using the WS though... :P

It's possible it could just have greater range than a normal WS, it does look like it's slightly out of range for a normal WS to be landing on it. But I wouldn't say it's a ranged WS.

No. It's clearly a Ranged Weapon Skill.

(Note: It even looks like he was using that weapon, not that I'm serious)

From what I can see, most of these look like they have some sort of special effect. Especially that PLD one. But that Polearm one looks like it could very well be some sort of Light Elemental Damage.

chance of hitting 4 hits is 81%

chance of wiffing a 5 hit ws is 0.0003125%.

not to sure the significance on damage 1 ht ws vs 3-5 or w/e I only remember a time where people subed thf for them to bring that out. people really dont sub thf anymore so I guess i was asumming this difference of 1 hit and muli hit difference was fading.

@ others maybe more ele ws will be nice for mobs that dont take phy damage well but i guess at the same time that phases blm out more too

A lot of one hit WS's that are used end game ignore a certain amount of defense naturally.

From what i understand.. Gekko / Yuki / Kasha / Spinning Slash / Ground Strike / Steel Cyclone .... and probably a few more do this.

So we get Wheeling Thrust which is "Amount of defense ignored varies via TP" while all those moves above do that already and have nice "Damage varies by TP" instead. Not to mention usually better modifers to boot (50%STR vs 75%str vs 50%Str 50%vit vs 50%str 50%int etc etc)

Im just hoping Sonic Thrust will be able to match atleast one of the above.

As for use of single hits...

I always tend to end up using Wheeling Thrust on monsters like Odin, JoL, tier 4 ZNM, tier 3 VNM etc (Outside zerg situations), Just the big ones where my attack / acc wont be capped so my multihit numbers are unreliable enough. No I dont go off to use it on every lesser monster i see.

That's what i thought until i realize some WSes would be nice to use a bit out of range on bad baddy bad AoE moves while subbing sam (does minstal axe have a longer WS range than bow/archery WS?). It would be fun to see alot of these new WSes do something than become another blade: notJin ws

Hahahha I love SE

Sonic Thrust: Delivers an area attack. Damage varies with TP.

Also while we're at it, these are the WS's DRG can upgrade via Magian -

Leg Sweep:
Vorpal Thrust:
Skewer:
Impulse Drive:

Anyone else a little disappointed?

OMG, Impulse Drive won't phail! nice. From all the new abilities, to all the gear with store tp, conserve tp, and enhances weaponskill damage. SE is definitely trying to get ppl back into skillchains which has long been a lost art since the implementation of Aht Urghan. But enhancing weaponskills like these only proves that fact. Most ppl wouldn't skill chain because the actual weaponskills that chained, like Impulse Drive were phail. This to me is awesome, cuz I love skillchains.

The problem with SC is the massive difference in the rate some jobs get TP. I highly doubt this is going to get people out of the WS spam mode.
