DRG Adjustments

Well besides the 80 cap and new WS, look what we've got in store.

Quote

Spirit Jump (DRG Lv.77 Ability Delay: 90 sec.)
Delivers a short jumping attack on a targeted enemy which suppresses enmity. Effect enhanced when wyvern is present.

- When dragoons use the "Spirit Link" ability, half of their wyvern's TP will be transferred to them.

Conserve TP Occasionally cuts down TP cost of weapon skills. DRG lv.45

also

Quote

- The level requirement for the samurai ability "Sekkanoki" will be reduced from 60 to 40.

I gotta say compared to most jobs DRG came out a winner in these updates. The rate of our TP gain just shot right up.

Shame we can't stop wyvern from using TP up. 200TP > Angon > Sekkanoki > WS > WS > 3*Jump > Meditate > WS > WS > Spirit Link > WS > Spirit Surge > Jump*3 > WS would have been beast.

I wonder if Conserve TP is SEs way of saying sorry for ruining DRGs image way back with the TP return nerf lol

Interested in what Spirit Jump will do under 2Hr. And does suppresses enmity mean reduce enmity like high jump or the jump gains no hate or what?

Hopefully we can get more than half wyverns TP back too.

There seems to be no good strong information on Conserve TP right about now, other than "You save some TP when you WS"

Basically you WS at 100%..... and normally you end up with 20%, but when it procs you seem to get a boost to your TP, ending up with 35%ish~

Anyone with an Aesir Ear Pendant have any experiences?

Also I wonder what effect Spirit Jump will have under Spirit Surge.

Would have been nice to be put on

Stout Servant
BST Lv.78 PUP Lv.78
Reduces damage taken by pet.

Spirit link TP is probably going to end up as a gimmick. The more often you WS the less you'll get back and wyverns don't get that much TP per WS round anyway, less so if you're blowing your load every few seconds. 10-20ish returns on average I'm expecting, gimmicky I think, but neat.

A new jump is great, I didn't think they'd do it. Suppresses enmity immediately made me think that when you use it, everyone will stop gaining hate for a few seconds and then it'll go back, meaning you can jump and WS for basically no hate. But that would drive other people insane, at least tanks.

Since the wyvern gets DRG job traits isn't there a chance it'll get Conserve TP and retain TP after a breath attack?

If not I guess it has it's uses solo.

Was just about to come back and edit that in, dunno why I keep forgetting that wyverns are DRGs. Just depends on how much TP is retained then, but yeah maybe not as useless/situational as I thought. Still I would have much rather the damage taken trait or you know, fixed wyvern breaths but I'm not complaining, cool stuff all around

Conserve TP will most likely function the same as Conserve MP http://wiki.ffxiclop...iki/Conserve_MP
SE is normally pretty lazy at implementing new functions. So assuming its practically identical with conserve mp, we're looking at saving 7+ tp on average.

Aesir Ear gives a 3% chance to conserve TP. The amount that I've seen from conserve TP itself seems to be random (or at least between two %s), but I have seen some large TP returns on drakes. This will most likely just increase the chance it will happen. Frankly this should boost DRG's already high TP-gain rate even more. A third jump, higher chance to conserve TP, coupled with the new standard polearm (brada). DRG is certainly gonna be a beast, even moreso than it is now.

I can't say much for Sonic Thrust or whatever. It's single hit so I doubt it'll serve any use other than a SC possibility (self light with sonic thrust > drakes?).

I'm not sure about that new jump. Sure seems a lot like Super Jump to me with a new name and slightly different text. I just thought of something. This does say it's enhanced when Wyvern is summoned. So, if Spirit Link gives your Wyver your HP and you His TP, then maybe Spirit Jump is a Jump attack that includes both you and your wyvern.

Stout Servant
BST Lv.78 PUP Lv.78
Reduces damage taken by pet.

Why isn't DRG on this? ; ;
One third of what they've given us is useless without this -- you can't get TP from spirit link if your wyvern got one-shotted by an AOE attack moments after you called for it.

I hope DRG gets added to Stout Servant between 81-99, it seems pretty likely.

Also Im really looking forward to Sonic Thrust, a more reliable WS for higher end monsters would be nice.

Seems like you guys have covered this fairly well already, but I just wanted to add my experiences with Conserve TP as well.

It's my understanding that Conserve TP functions similarly to Conserve MP in that the percentage given by the trait and equipment that enhance it is the proc rate rather that the amount conserved. The amount (to me at least) seems to be ~20%; It may have some randomness to it, but i think that may be more the number of hits you land and any double attacks that occur.

For example when I first got the earring I was out in Boyahda tree as War/Dnc and was getting about 17~19 tp returned from Raging and Justice, but when my earring proc'd it was definitely noticeable.. like 38 TP which leads me to the 20% conserved. This was also WS'ing right around 100% Tp, haven't tried 200~300% yet.

I'm really hoping that the trait will give at least the same amount of proc % as Conserve MP which is about 25% i think, plus we are getting at lvl 45 for drg and maybe there will be another tier of it at a later lvl? That plus Aesir Ear Pendant for WS, /Sam, Sekkanoki, Spirit Link TP, 3 Jumps all has me excited to get to level my favorite job again ^^.

Well if we are comparing it to Conserve MP there is no Conserve MP II / III etc so unlikely to get a next tier. Im presuming its low so people can sub drg in the higher levels to get access to it.

Well even without another Tier, 25% wouldn't be too bad.

Being level 45 for subjob reasons is a valid point; would be fun to have as Sam/Drg :D.
/Sam will probably be king for other 2-handers though.

I wonder how the wyvern will effect Spirit Jump, from the phrasing it just sounds like it will enhance the "Enmity Suppression", would be neat though
if it also increases acc, dmg, or rate of crit assuming it can crit. Also idk if it's just me, but when I first read the name "Spirit Jump" the first thing that came
to mind was spirit damage... though I'm sure they we just playing off of the fact we are linked with our wyverns.

Hmm, multiple tiers of conserve tp seems unlikely since drg gets it so early. With all the ways drgs get tp now, having higher tiers of conserve tp would just be a bit much. With this update drg/sam will very likely turn out to be top in just general overall damage(in stuff like einherjar my drg was already coming out on top in the parses besides the kc zerg drks) It makes me wonder why SE is compensating drgs so much, they weren't doing so poorly once you start getting decent/good gear. We're needed for angon for zergs and our overall damage is already near the top of the chain.

Well after scrambling to get 3 merit points after the update (on wyverns in riverne site B... fuckin horrible mobs but we were desperate for a camp), Spirit Link stealing half of Wyvern's TP is a godscent. You can throw out spirit link during WS animation, and yank half it's TP before it has a chance to breath. And as usual it stores TP if your WS gets the killshot. Either way it's like a DRG meditate. Fun times.
