We get a job trait:

Divine Benison
WHM Lv.50
Quickens spellcasting for status ailment recovery magic. Grants a bonus to enmity reduction.

And some spells:

Cure VI: WHM Lv.80
Protect V: WHM Lv.76
Shell V: WHM Lv.76
Baramnesra: WHM Lv.78

Baramnesiara holds some promise, maybe. Otherwise, meh. I don't see Divine Benison being very useful at all, since the casting time of -na spells is low already. Maybe it makes it instant cast? And where the hell is my Reviviscence!?

Aye, you're right. When I saw "status ailment recovery magic" I got tunnel-minded and thought of -na spells, silly me.

I wonder how Cure VI's enmity will be handled.

Main thing WHMs are getting are accessed to strong SJs from this and Cure VI, depending on the healing and enmity formulas behind it. WHM/DNC Bird party, anyone?

I have no conceivable idea why you would want to sub dancer in a merit party. Or ever.

For the weak-sauce Dual Wield and opportunity to use Aspir Samba? The thinking is lost on me, too.

Instant cures instead of having to cast them? Fuck, that's kind of a stretch even.

*Shrug* I sub NIN in bird merits fairly often before I quit playing, and with (or even without usually) Boon, MP isn't an issue. WHM/DNC on birds would be just as effective and, likely, alot more fun than Haste and Regen cycling while watching TV.

Subbing NIN is one thing, but subbing DNC is a step backwards. If you're wanting to use TP, it should be on Mystic Boon, not Waltzes.

Though, assuming merit mobs get stepped up a bit in the future(I.E. not a repeat of birds), you'll want to be /SCH 100% of the time, meleeing or not meleeing.

If they do just make a carbon copy of Nyzul, we're all pretty much out of the job. DD, DD, DD, BRD/NIN, COR/WHM, DNC/NIN would take over the merit scene.

"The scholar ability "Accession" does not affect the white magic spell "Haste".

Fuck you SE.

*shrug* It's not like haste rotations are hard. We all should have seen it coming a mile away.

Also, WHM99/SMN49 Garuda Hastega incoming in 8 months? :D

Except that Hastega would have, what, a 90 second duration because of incredibly terrible Summoning skill? I'd rather just handle the obnoxious rotation.

Honestly, I'd have preferred that SE encouraged the idea of a White Mage wading into the thick of battle instead of making me spend more and more precious seconds and MP throwing Haste on some idiot in a Hachiman Domaru. Traditional D&D clerics (and let's be clear, Final Fantasy as a franchise is heavily influenced by D&D) were able to swing their maces and it seems a damned shame to keep throwing Mjollnir-class weapons at White Mage with no clear reason to use them. A Haste cycle was never hard, it was just boring or, depending on the situation, far too time-consuming. In Einherjar, for instance, I have been so busy dealing with other things that I lose my timing and would much prefer to be able to just get it cast and return to my more important duties.

Not really, no. I didn't see this coming at all. I don't see why haste should be exempt, especially considering they tend to push WHM closer and closer to the frontline with every update, and forcing them to cast haste on 5-6 people doesn't help that.

Seen it coming, happy about it? no.
But I can't say I'm disapointed either because in that department nothing changed.

It was sarcasm. I don't think I will ever sub SMN again unless /SCH gets deleted from the game.

SE never follows through with their own shit. While I love the idea of front-line WHM ( I have pretty much the best gear you can get for it, outside of fucking Goliard Saio), I just know SE isn't gonna manage to pull it off.

The ONLY logical reason I can see Square Enix not allowing Haste to be used with Accession is to encourage the use of other subjobs. In reality, though, all they've done is ensured that Red Mage is forever White Mage's subjob, especially since we'll be getting self-Refresh in September. Seriously, there's no other reason I can fathom for giving us full-powered Convert and not Hastega.

I really cannot see myself caring even a little bit about Refresh.

pretty sure haste doesn't work with ascession because of sch main, not /sch.

I don't think i would sub RDM, even with refresh. I'm -not- adding a second cycle to my spellcasting when /SCH provides me the same MP recovery over time that I need and much better conservation and buff options.
