Kleiner just reminded me that a lot of people need to know more about this newish advent of technology (I was under the impression that TVs could receive a firmware update since Blu-Ray players could). Especially since the PS3 and FFXIV will be 3D, as well as the new 3DS.

3D TVs require whole new hardware to function in 3D. a BluRay player just needs a firmware update so it knows how to interpret the data, but it's not the same for TVs..

televisions need multiple polarizations in order to display full color 3d images which as stated above, uses different hardware. a 3d movie burnt onto a bluray disc is a bluray disc regardless. it just might be coded different which new firmware can read.

as long as future ps3 games have an option of turning it on or off, I'll be happy. I have the same standard 27" I got 5 years ago and as of late doesn't seem like I'll be going HD anytime soon.
