Maybe it will stay capped at 75 since SE doesn't give a rats ass about ballista anyway.

It was never specifically capped at 75, because there was no need to create a 75 cap specifically since that was natural cap. By your logic of SE not paying attention, it'll remain uncapped. meaning 75+ shenanigans.

I don't really think much of paladin getting phalanx natively. Sure subbing something other than rdm will make them harder to kill for example pld/blu, but /rdm is still going to have the annoying stuff.

- enspells
-blaze spikes
-dispel

ect, if they choose not to sub rdm, only would be a problem in 1 vs 1, in team match, lack of those things would make a pld so much less annoying.

It's pretty easy to target someone other than the pld.

actually /blu at 40 has the Eye move from opo opos that dispels so thats one less thing /rdm has.
or maybe its giest wall, either way, /blue gets a dispel

3 second cast and has to be facing the opponent, along with the very short range of most blue magic spells. While that may work on someone whose never ballista'd before. Gl getting that to work on anyone who plays worth a damn. That was already taken into consideration before making my post.

The loss of /RDM dispel will be a reason to sub RDM still. But that's pretty much it. Blaze spikes overwrite and prevent reprisal. Not worth it half the time. Enspells are nice if you're usin a joytoy, since the dmg will add up over time. It's a small boost, but overall your dmg is Atonement.

Looking at alternatives from other subs... going /WAR you get the usual traits. Attack bonus, DA, defender on top of phalanx, aggressor, and finally... Provoke. Builds hate faster so that first atonement hits for near max dmg, instead of having to flash em 4 or 5 times.

looking at /BLU, it doesn't offer as much as it did before honestly. You do get a form of dispel, but like you said the range sucks. A crafty PLD/BLU could probably sleep ya with Sheep Song (done it before, against other PLD's even), but again it's situational and easy to counter w/ movement or even just a speck of resist-sleep gear. So while /BLU does make you a wall too, I don't think it offers as much as /WAR at this point.

But all in all, yea I'll probably stick to /RDM for things that need dispel, and /WAR for anything/everything else.

Well defender is kinda a double edged sword. Sure your defense goes up 25% but your attack goes down 25%, which helps them as well, where as cocoon is a straight 50% bonus, sprout smack lands slow quite potently (10% slow). Battledance wipes third eye in 1 shot even if seigan is up.

As for /war's attack bonus, negated by defender.

So really, DA and voke and gressor is what I see /war adding. If you're not fighting a nin or thf, I don't see gressor helping much either.

And if you're in OM, sheepsong procs very well on sleep and is good for scoring when someone trying to interrupt.

Yea the attack goes down 25% from defender, but really as PLD, all you need to do is be able to hit for 1 point of damage, just for TP. Atonement takes care of the rest.

They're both going to be fun subs to toy around with, and situational (as is every job combo). If /BLU can produce a self Fusion SC from like... Atonement >> Jet Stream or something, can MB holy for a pretty big chunk of damage. Sure it'll butcher your MP pool but a ganked kill is a ganked kill.

Oh how I wish I could experience Level80-99 Ballista -_-;;;;; Not enough tug to bring me back into the shitty realms of XI

On the other hand, I can see how robotically gay Lv80-99 Ballista would be, now that /sam or /dnc IS gonna be the norm sub for pretty much all DDs. Sub DNC for Dual Wield and Cures, Sub Sam for Sekk....Ranger is also gonna be Helo-Broken as well. And PLD/RDM? Indestructible, literally. If you thought PLD was hard to kill before, it will be the king of Ballista again :(
Hmmm can't say I'm gonna miss that too much, although pre ws nerf were the glory days in ballista

Oh well, guess I'll just wait for Ballista to be revived on FFXIV.

I'd wait before going "zomg this job's gonna rule all". People didn't sub NIN before for the Dual Wield... they subbed it for utsusemi. /DNC does not provide this. and if you think Curing Waltz 2 is going to save you from gravity gang bangs you're in for a rude awakening. /SAM I could see being a nasty force with Sekka WS action. But again, nothing a good defensive build can't stop (and if you're a mage or tank class in ballista, even most DD's, you better have a good defense build. Otherwise gtfo.) PLD was already covered earlier. /RDM may not be as much a staple as it used to be, but we'll see.

And chances are no one's tried lvl 80 ballista because go figure.... none of us are lvl 80 yet. Soon enough though, soon enough.
