Not sure how long you been playing DRG or this game, but sounds like you are making a "its situational" arguement. Thats not what I am trying to get into here... I am pointing out the value of the relic weapon itself... upgrade a Relic and use it for some situations? what a great idea! lol.

My comment on the ACC bonus is that we can cap it relatively easily. So with Gungnir you can stack more STR/ATT/Haste gear right? Such good pieces, in our limited slots, also have ACC on them... redundant. Get my point? But yes, I understand that it offers more flexibility with gear selection.

If you lose hope based on my few posts, then I should assume you have a short FFXI play history, let alone Relic upgrade experience? But to be fair, I am not up to date on all the latest gear/stats coming out... though I continue to get the impression that it will not hold its luster with the way SE keeps adding/upgrading the weapons. When Relics were introduced, the next best weapon was Gae Bolg (92dmg), Ice Lance+1 (90dmg), or Colossal (88dmg) so base dmg range was 8-12dmg range... now its 1 dmg. If you understand the dmg formulas (I am no expert) base dmg is considered significant.

I am happy with the Relic really and the only dissapointment is Gierskogul (AGI mod... WRRRRRRRYYYYYYY). Sorry if it sounded like I dont like the Relic, my comment was pointing out how less significant it is... hence me thinking about its worth/value... cognitive dissonance stuff.

Very happy that there are new/strong weaps for DRGs overall yo =)

I get the point that a lot of pieces do have ACC and Haste on them, but there are things like dusk gloves +1, blitz ring, turban and Abyssea stuff (given, a lot of it hasn't been found yet) where you can more readily give up ACC for Haste for significant gains in damage. Yes the relic ws on Polearm is crap, but if you look at other relics, I can't think of one that has a WS that's used for something that isn't the aftermath (maybe kaiten with really high buffs). DRG should feel lucky that it has access to a WS like Drakesbane. You realize WAR is still stuck with the same Rampage/Raging Rush, MNK is only just getting something that can possibly eclipse Asuran, and DRK is still stuck with Guillo/Spinning Slash? DRG is in no place to complain about a bad ws on it's relic, considering it's been more than made up for recently.

I can agree that DRG is in a better position than where it was... Ive have been playing this game since NA release =)

So if you acocunt for that time of "history", it is only recently that DRG is given updates (gear, WS, etc.) that make us comparable/some advantages over the other DD jobs. I personally feel that it started to get better with the 2hnd update, but thats just me. Homam/Ares gear (etc) AND Drakesbane was much needed... period.

I see that your perspective is broader than just comparing relic weapon to the new weapon with your last comment about other jobs. I wasnt even making those comparisons, lol. I feel that its still getting closer to an even playing field with other jobs... I think you are see it more as we are getting good "new stuff" while other jobs didnt. Maybe because they dont need it? /grin Other jobs do could use some updates for sure.

So I dont feel lucky with the updates, but I do feel that SE making up for the deglet oif years past. Yes, we got some good updates =)

anyway, the discussion is getting larger than it should be so I will stop with the /derail... lol

To be fair guys. If you're keeping up with how Abyssea is working these weapons arent just going to fall into everyones hands.

The only drop item Ive seen posted about so far was the one for Marasume (SAM empyrean).

To get it they had to kill pop NMs in the zones, and one player had a CHANCE of recieving a key item. Once they got several of these key items they were able to pop the NM that dropped the Empyrean materials. It took 18 people and still gave them hell... and at the end of the day dropped 2 of the stones.

So it takes a few runs to gather the key items to pop the NM and kill it~ and thats only 4% of the weapon done, meanwhile your entire LS is working just for your weapon by doing this.

Though all that said... I do NOT envy the new relic weapon magian trials, talk about a grind fest.

I want to know the point of making stuff like this.

why should 18 people help you get a weapon? if everyone of these 18 people get one thats liek 3 years? so then it starts bitch fest who should get first???
