New Gear

So it has came to my attention recently that accuracy does not matter much on Y/G/K well i think I dk someone just told me that. I was wondering a couple things. One I know osede > hauby+1 for dmg I been using the hauby for the acc mainly with WS. Also another thing with the gekko attack bonus being high should I focus on str only or a balance of str and attack? I usually do 5 attack > 1 str is this true? (why I use foragers over smilodon+1). Last question is if WS has pretty high capped ACC all this new gear with some nice str+ but acc - would it be worth getting?

It's assumed that all the first hit on all WS receive a very large ACC boost, in the range of +100 ACC. This makes ACC largely irrelevant for the first hit of a WS. As far as SAM WS specifically, the "Big Three" all receive significant attack bonuses(50% for Yuki, 66% for Kasha, 100% for Gekko, tested here) . This means you only need in the range of 500 attack to cap Gekko on the majority of mobs you'll face as a SAM, allowing you to focus entirely on stacking as much STR for the WS as possible.

So then you would say the new str+ acc - gear is good? And osede > hauby+1 for ws?

Absolutely. If you're in dire need for ACC (see: you've got some potent blind or a really evasive mob) you may need to swap around a few pieces. For the average mob however, they work great.

Alright lol I will have to see my SAM later today and how much attack do you need to cap out on kasha and yuki?

It really depends on the mob for those two. Really though, stick with Gekko unless you absolutely need to not silence the mob or need to para/blind it.

Well I use the other two to skillchain off people in parties and what not.

Well I guess that boils down to play style then. SAM generates TP much faster than other jobs, and you're generally wasting damage if you're holding TP because of how weak skill chain damage is. However, if you're absolutely going to use the other two, you should easily cap attack on your average merit mob in the standard full blow STR Gekko set. If you're not receiving any attack buffs as the mobs get more defense, move to pieces like Forager's mantle and Haubergeon. As for a flat value of X attack, use X piece, I can't really tell you for sure because it really does depend on the mob.

We'll see how that new job trait holds up.

True, but it'll have to be pretty significant in order to be worth it.

Well, Kurodachi is a pain in the ass to create, but you can either make a rather strong Joyeuse-type one or a second Soboro. Actually, for that matter, Soboro Sukehiro was still holding its own at 75, I am sure you could get to 80 on that. Ultimately, you're probably going to want to follow the Trial of the Magians path to get Masamune or possibly the new Great Katana with Store TP +5.

Basically, Square-Enix has made it clear that the only way to get new weapons will be through bleeding Trial of the Magians. That's amusing and all, but that some people have half a dozen jobs and, TP Bonus or not, swinging a D: 75 Hagun doesn't really hold up to the D: 90+ options, especially as more traits will no doubt be added. So grind away... or slit your wrists.

The Haste+5 belt, seems like this would allow Usu Body/Usu feet users to equip sword strap using Polearm.

Goading Belt Rare Exclusive
Waist
Haste+5% "Store TP"+5 Enmity+3
Lv77 WAR, MNK, WHM, BLM, RDM, THF, PLD, DRK, BST, BRD, RNG, SAM, NIN, DRG, SMN, BLU, COR, PUP, DNC, SCH

or no?

bullwhip belt/rose strap > goading belt/sword strap, but this is beside the fact that even with just brutal/rajas/usufeet, you can hold your polearm five-hit np a majority of the time

if you're worried about it, use rose strap, but i'm fine myself

Shit is situational for Yuki and Kasha.

Perle > Haub+1 for Yuki and Kasha, but situational between that and Osode. For Gekko, Osode always.
