Tornado Kick Testing

Some quick Tornado Kick SC properties testing:

Tornado Kick > Impulse Drive = Nothing

Tornado Kick > Skewer = Impaction

Skewer > Tornado Kick = Detonation

Vorpal Thrust > Tornado Kick = Induration

Tornado Kick > Vorpal Thrust = Induration

Drakebane > Tornado Kick = Nothing

Tornado Kick > Drakebane = Nothing

Penta Thrust > Tornado Kick = Detonation

If anyone better at this stuff wants to figure out the specific elements, I'd appreciate it. I'll probably dick around with it + a SAM later.

Edit: As far as damage goes, was around 400-450 damage consistently against Om'Phuabos in sea with no footwork up or kick boots. With footwork it jumped to around 600 damage, but still no boots during the test (forgot them :3).

Well, unless you missed a level 2 property, the SC elements are Wind and Ice. We'll be able to open Fragmentation for warriors (Raging Rush) and Gravitation for dragoons and samurai (Penta Thrust), which is sort of neat.

Very small test sample, but was just doing walk of echoes, so comparing to other ws'. The 1k tornado was 100 tp w/ footwork the other 4 had no footwork, but also 100 tp

Has compaction and induration properties. (war and sam partners).

Max dmg so far at 1,046 using mainly STR gear foot work and dune boots. at level 77 on the VT wanderer's in Promyvion-Mea.

avg dmg around 800~ w/ footwork

400~ w/o

hmm that seems weird, warrants more testing. 30 DMG (footwork dune boots) shouldn't be a 100% increase in damage, not even close.

I also noticed a darkness go off from pups armor piercer after i used it. I believe it closed.

Solo'ing some h2h skill ups on weapons in sky. Only parsing the T rated ones, no parse for the EM or DC ones.

Edit: Done. The 265 I got 1 tp return, so take that for what it is. The underlined one I didn't have ws gear on for

Tornado Kick + Sneak Attack
Mobs: Wild sheep and rabbits in E.Ron [s]
D12 Weapon, 302 skill, No footwork
TP between 100 and 120 on all WS but the last couple
All WS gave a TP return of 5, indicating only one hit.

No gear with stats
Base stats 78 STR 75 VIT
604 low
708 high

STR+46
709 low
820 high

VIT+42
689 low
784 high

For fun 300tp, Footwork, Dune boots SA 78+47 STR 75+43 VIT lol
1198
1212

STR and VIT mods again, not a big surprise there. They are similar in strength unlike Howling Fist, possibly 30-40% each? Mods pretty obviously increase with TP, randomly had about 250 TP on one of them (not paying attention) and landed 969 damage. Didn't test any other mods as it seemed unnecessary.

Lousy renkei properties aside (although a good opener for Fragmentation isn't a bad thing), this seems like a nice boost over current Dragon Kick.

Except that we only use Dragon Kick in Footwork.

And we don't use Footwork.

So... uh, how can we pin down if this has an Attack Bonus component in it, as Howling Fist and Dragon Kick do? We have the stats for Steelshells mapped out pretty well, possibly bring a level 75 friend down to the Boyahda Tree to give an accurate level reading and test results once Scissor Guard goes up?

Oh, and it is three hits. With Dragon Kick and Howling Fist, it has been acceptable to end up closer to 80% Accuracy on that second hit (or worse!) because it was so irrelevant. Losing two strikes along with any potential Double Attacks means that Accuracy is a bit more important to this weaponskill. I dunno, the whole rutting thing seems pretty clunky.

It'll be a little difficult to test a pdif boost on a 3 hit, but if I find the time I'll see if I can crank out some numbers. Been wanting to go test out guard too.

Again, has ANYONE actually tested to see if that shit still works? It seemed like a pretty obvious bug and they only just got around to fixing the OAT for proper punching.

Even if it does work, it doesn't necessarily follow that everyone will get Ursine Claws. Simple truth of the matter is that these trials are a massive timesink and most people have multiple jobs at 75 that they'll be thinking about bringing to 80. Mages can just barely squeak by with their trusty level 51 elemental staves, but anyone with aspirations of hitting a mob is going to need to upgrade a pile of weapons. Faced with the prospect of getting all my shit together (and I'm hoping I'll have the time to start playing again once July rolls around), working on Verethragna for Monk, Kannagi and whatever else for Ninja, that new Cure staff, and debating how much I hate myself to dive into Ranger stuff... well, at this point, just getting as far as the 2-3 Ursine Claws would take something a fair while, albeit without having to collect Abyssea/VNM drops.

They say it works on Alla. I'll be testing it myself when i get to the occ attack twice stage. If it doesn't work there, I won't proceed on, simple as that. As for people not wanting to do it, still doesn't mean they're not better, just that they're not willing to put the time into getting them.

I'm doing them now because it's mostly kill this mob x400 times ect. No drops needed, no vnms, ect. My mantis is at the point I can't solo anymore so I'm waiting on others to get there in the mean time I solo these.

Barring the new Poise Boots that haven't been found and tested yet, Dune Boots are the strongest Kick Attacks Damage boots in the game.
