Before I spend 1500+

First off, I'm tired of black screening during high visual effects circumstances on my tired, fried, dead, worn out, old, corrupted, crusty, blah blah blah PS2. Purchasing a new Gateway FX6840-03E and two new lcd monitors in a couple weeks. It's a really nice system and semi affordable. I'm certain it will be a drastic stepup from my PS2 and I have no doubt it will be smooth sailing through highly congested adventures in FFXI for years to come. But what I'm not certain of how to do or if it's possible (friends say it is even possible to split screen two accounts) is to be able to play my main account and my alt. account at the same time from the same "tower" on sererate screens. The salesman from Bestbuy said you just designate one screen for one account and go to your other screen and reload the same FFXI program to the second screen and designate that screen for the second account. This would allow me to accomplish many things at a faster pace and allow me to stay out in the field longer for extended farm runs cutting down on massive comute time back and forth to the ah. Also allowing me to power level my main account's sub jobs without having to deal with todays new style of player base. This is probably a very elementary question for the majority of you and if it is possible I'm sure the majority of multiple account holders have already been doing this for years now. Forgive me for not being very computer savvy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Also, think this is good enough to run any and all current video games? Good enough for FFXIV?

Ok, I finally have the new setup I spoke of before. Now I have another delima. I have the DVD software from around 2005 that includes the original content, RoZ and CoP expansions all on one disc. I went to intall the original software and begin the epic update  I found out that the data on my old disc wasn't compatible with Windows 7 and I couldn't begin the update. So I uninstalled what I just installed and downloaded the POL viewer thinking this would be all I had to do in order to begin the updates. The viewer installed with no trouble so as I went to log-in and navigate my way through the prompts to begin the updates, I was met with a Error 020 which says there is no game data on my computer. I looked closer at the walk through instructions on the POL website and noticed that I needed my original discs to complete the install. Here-in lies my delima, my discs are compatible with up to Windows XP but not Windows 7 due to Windows 7 being newer.

What am I missing here? Am I just too tired to see a minor oversight or am I going to have to buy new game discs or download the package deal from the POL website? Being computer illiterate in todays ever changing tech world is more than a bit frustrating lol.

Windows XP discs are compatible with Windows 7. The only thing outdated on those older FFXI discs were the POL viewer files.

If you still have the Windows 7 compatible version of POL installed, go ahead and install FFXI like normal.

Ty for ur help. I'm not sure exactly what was going on but in the end this is what I ended up having to do.

1. Download the Windows7 compatible Play On Line viewer from POL.
2. Insert but not run the all in one DVD that includes the main game, RoZ, and CoP.

3. Access my DVD drive through the "My Computer" tab in main menu. Right click it, view, and find the icons that read "INST" - "INST 4".

4. The icon that is just "INST" is the POL viewer. I didn't want that. That's what was giving me all the grief. So I clicked each of the other 3 "INST 2 - INST 4" tabs in numerical order. Downloading each between clicks.

I hope this helps anyone else that may run across this situation and not know what to do. POL has instructions on how to do this but to me they weren't complete. Or maybe it was the way I read it lol. Frustration sometimes clouds my understanding.

I also want to extend a personal thank you to Bigsmokey for walking me through this process.
