Barracudas short trials, easy trials

The final forms at the moment are these two:

(but fuck the second one)

Now, aside from how stupid it is to have Dragon Kick as the WS on the (current) final of this path, that base dmg is lovely. Especially when considering it just takes 1100 WSs on EP mobs. The last two trials are family specific, but that's not difficult.

I'm not at all a 1st string PUP (lol puns). I've been using Wagh favorably for a long time, putting most effort into my automaton. With the level cap increase, I've begun work on Verethragna and got halted at the VNM trials. I opted to pursue Barracudas at the same time just for the sake of having a better weapon for lv80. Any thoughts on this? I'm thinking for how simple it is to get, it's a decent piece. And hopefully in the future, subsequent trials will feature a WS that isn't retarded.

The second one is easily the better of the two.

Until Barracudas affect Stringing Pummel, they're crap and a big waste of any form of effort. Same DMG and higher delay than Mantis, and no chance or moving it up to Verethragna? Why even bother wasting the time on them?

Better off just getting off your butt and shouting for people to do VNMs like I did. Took me 3 days of shouting, but I'm finally working on the last trial to turn them into Verethragna.

Honestly, these weapons seem a little too easy to get for their strength. I'm thinking they're going to get harder with the next batch of trials though. Collect 1,000 Ridill/Hauteclaire-rare drops from lv99 HNMs in Abyssea [Do you need it?]

Not that it matters to much, but you can do multiple trials so here is my plan. I have both the cats claws eva h2h path and these that I am working on same time. When its not correct day or weather, but I still am killing stuff, its probably smart to just slap these on. I would not go out of my way to break them, but if I am waiting till next weather might as well be doing something productive. Plus I can see SE upping these later maybe even to point where you can get SP+10% at 90? who knows lol.

Yeah, after finishing Mantis I started working on "attacks 2-3 times" weapon and was doing Barracudas just for fun, since chances are they'll add more trials to them for better weaponskills (likely going to skip mythic weapon skills and go straight to Tornado Kick and whatever comes after it though.)

I will say this though, if the VNMs look overwhelming for you, you can just do Barracudas for the DMG+22 weapon until you get VNMs done, and eventually finish the 50 item trial for Empyrean weapon.

Barracudas have the same DMG as final form Mantis, but a tiny bit more delay, and much easier to finish. I didn't think of this until after I finish Mantis, unfortunately. -_-

The multihit weapon is more interesting to me right now though, just to mess around with. I've always wished PUP could equip Faith Baghnakhs, but the multihit trial weapon is close enough to have some fun with. :D

Barracudas are a great side option quest to start. I started them after one of my OA2-3 quests where I was staying a bit longer to help others finish, although personally I ended up dropping them midway through the first trial just because I wanted to do another quest (can only have 5) <_<. Plus I realized that they weren't the effort since I could finish up one of the elemental paths for a 22/61 weapon that would actually have useful stats and wouldn't be a sunk effort. I'll probably get back to them after I finish the 5~8 other H2H weapons I want since there is a high likelihood they will be easy to upgrade if they add future quests.

Kind of bummed that H2H WS/STP quest is the weakest of the bunch. The two handed versions are far more practical and useful and the other single handed weapons can be double dipped with dual wield during other quests, but Barracudas are still a pretty quick'n'easy DD option.
