Apparently someone is trying to attempt yet ANOTHER .hack// mmorpg. http://theworldbbsboard.proboards.com/ dunno if they will succeed or not would be kinda cool. most people fail or get sued or just shut down. just thought people who are fans would like this even though in my opinion it might fail like the rest.

Wasn't there an official mmo that failed in under 2 years, and never came stateside? Too much of a niche within a niche within a niche type game. I'm interested though.

They have some pics you can see when you sign up. but from i was told when i asked the admin is they are trying to gain people without drawing too much attention with media because all the attempts so far who had alot of pics/videos were shut down by bandai and cc2. so they are trying to stay under the radar so they can release it.
*EDIT* ya it was called Fragment and it wasnt a mmorpg it was a orpg "online RPG" it had a wait room and stuff so it failed.

PSO had lobbies and stuff, and stuck around about 10 years (still online via multiple private servers). PSU is lobbies and shit, it's been online almost 4 years.

I am a big .hack fan im sad its ending with .hack//link however, I have basicly dropped my hopes of a actual online game. As said above the closest thing to The World is PSO.

Sometimes, when my sanity begins to waver, I wonder if I'm still alive or if this is some sort of beer-and-pill induced coma, or just Purgatory.
When you think about it, you have no way of knowing you're not in a coma. THNX EXISTENTIALISM: raping minds for years!

its not they don't want people to not know about it, they don't want to advertise until its finished so they can be the first to actually complete it and not worry about being shut down. I'm sure when they are done you'll see stuff about it all over the place. but for now you can register and see whats up for yourself.
Also PSO was released in in america, europe, and japan. Fragment was only in Japan. so player base was really low. Also fragment setup was very strange when it came to servers and dungeon building.

Well if it's anything like the actual game, it would be a painful dungeon crawler. And outside of the game story, there was never much implication The World had much story going on, just that the world it took place in was based on an epic poem. It was sort of implied to be fully RP based otherwise. Which brings in curious questions like will the real lore and story be brought in, or will the be trying to synthesize new stuff.
A Dungeon Crawler, however, just doesn't seem like it'd be a huge success as an MMO. I could be horridly wrong though. It's just not something I'd pay a subscription for.

All i can say is check it out and see whats up. i asked yesterday how much subscription will be and i was told it was going to be free to play with a cash shop. Cash shop wont be for items with stats just appearance only.

No that would make sense. They would probably deal with all the virus crap and make you "The one", even though so will be everyone else. It would just end up into a dungeon crawler with a slight story like the SMT MMO does.
Unfortuntely, it is called fan service, and people want the stuff that was in the original game. But it would be a grand idea if they just made "The World" and thats it, I don't need any hacking bracelet, then again, I would probably get bored with the dungeon crawling.

yes it is The World. No you are not the one. Morgana does exist because Morgana is part of The World. Theres no Hacking or Virus.
